THE SERIES: NJCU leads, 55-53 (known results only) since pre-World War II. Rowan has won the last three meetings. LAST MEETING: January 22, 2011 in Glassboro, NJ. Rowan won, 55-47, which was NJCU’s only loss by more than four points prior to Wednesday at Montclair State. NJCU failed to hold a 14-point, 3319 lead in the second half and shot just 2-of-22 from three-point range (.091) and .304 (17-56) from the field. Keith Williams had 13 points for NJCU with six rebounds and two steals. Tom McDermott added seven points and seven rebounds. LAST TIME OUT: On Wednesday, two days after beating Montclair State by 20 points to clinch the No. 2 seed in the NJAC North Division, the Knights had their ninegame winning streak snapped in a 62-53 loss at Montclair in the second game of a homeand-home series. NJCU trailed at halftime for the first time in more than two months and shot .316 overall (18-57). James Livingston matched his career-high with 17 points, shooting 11-of-12 from the line. Rob Robinson scored 12 points and hit two threes. NJAC QUARTERS: NJCU makes its first appearance in the NJAC Tournament since the 2006-07 season. NJCU has won a conference record 11 championships but none since 2004. The Knights are making their 25th appearance all-time in the NJAC Tournament with a record of 16-18 (.471) (34 games). WHAT’s NEXT?: The winner of this game faces NJAC South No. 1 seed Kean University on Tuesday, February 22 at 7 p.m. in Union, NJ. The finals are Friday, February 25 at 7 p.m. STILL HOT: NJCU has won nine of its last 10 games and 13 of 16 overall. THE LINE: NJCU, for the first time in recent history, leads the NJAC in free throw percentage (.695) and field goal percentage defense (.389). From the line, Da’Shon Barrino and James Livingston ranked 1-2 in the league. Keith Williams ranks eighth (.757).
ABOUT THE OPPOSITION LAST MEETING: In the January 22 win for Rowan over NJCU, For Rowan, Kendall White had 13 points, four blocks and four rebounds. Steve Secula had a doubledouble with 12 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. NJCU vs. ROWAN, NJAC TOURNAMENT HISTORY: NJCU and Rowan have a long history of men’s basketball success. While NJCU owns the league record for conference titles, Rowan is second with 10 crowns. This will be the ninth time NJCU and Rowan have met in the conference tournament and the first time since the NJAC championship game on February 28, 2004; the Knights won 88-75. Rowan leads the all-time NJAC Tournament series, 5-3, but the Knights are 3-2 in the tournament vs. the Profs in Jersey City. PROFS in the NJAC: In the conference, Jason Rosenberg leads the conference with a 1.6 assist/turnover ratio. He is tied for second in assists (4.9) and tied for 10th in steals (1.7).
