Embroidery Explorers September, 2016 Show and Tell

Barbara’s jacket decoration is from the Anita Good Fashion collection that will be available in November. Her bear in landscape and watercolor is from Embroidery Library and has over 100,000 stitches. It has 23 colors and took over 5 hours to stitch out! It is a framed as work of art.

Carolyn’s Feathered Star quilt pattern was from a 2014 issue of Fons and Porter. She is getting ready to machine quilt it.

Jessie’s Pretty as a Peacock design on the back of her denim shirt is from Calico Cali designs. Her quilted casserole carrier with matching placemats is a kit from Connecting Threads.

Donna’s gift bags are the perfect way to use “sew outs”. She has the fabric cut to correct size and then her practice pieces can serve a useful purpose. Her “stand-up” stationery, sewing, artist case is from a Craftsy upload. Great idea for a future program.....

Jan T’s patriotic wall hanging will be going to Benton County Hospice who will hang it on the wall of a veteran who is in hospice care. Marys River Quilt Guild members are making patriotic wall hangings and donating them to Hospice.

Donna’s presentation was on how to make an e-reader cover. She used McCalls pattern M7069, but modified it make the bottom fold to help it stand up. (see picture #1 below) She used Inspire instead of Timtex to give it more stability. The cover can be made in several sizes and Donna added stick-on velcro for a closure.

Here are pictures of this nifty carrier that Julie K. made.  It has 4 zippers to change it from a carrying bag to a mat that can be laid out for a multitude of uses.  She used 4 zippers to construct it from pre-quilted fabric.  Quite the nifty idea!!
