Hope
Our hope is in Jesus Christ and the promises that come with new life in Christ. Take some time to look at these questions (and accompanying Scriptures) and consider your part in bringing hope to the world around:
If someone asked, how would you describe the hope you have in Jesus Christ?
God is taking history in a particular direction. To get a glimpse of that direction, read Isaiah 65:17-25. o What will the world look like at the end of all things, that is, once our hope is realized? (Revelation 21:1ff would fit well too)
In the Old Testament, God called Israel to live towards their ultimate hope, which meant to live generously. o Read Deuteronomy 15:1-11. o What does this passage teach us about who God is (God’s character)? o In what ways does the “year of canceling debts” show who God is in a tangible way?
Jesus was generous towards us when we did not deserve such generosity (2 Corinthians 8:9).

o Based on God’s call on Israel and God’s generosity through Jesus, what is our responsibility to show God’s hope to those around us? o Practically speaking, how do we live our hope? (see James 2:1-13).

Give thanks for a God who is generous. Pray for a hopeful and generous nature. Pray for Covenant Kids Congo. VISION STATEMENT We exist for God’s glory. Guided by God’s Word, through worship and prayer, we will share joyfully the good news of Jesus Christ to make more disciples and bring the light of Christ to Lincoln and beyond.
