Southlands Hometown Holiday Parade Guidelines ➢ No candy, gifts or other items or material may be thrown from the float or handed out by people marching. Safety is an issue and the children may be injured while running out to receive treats. ➢ If you have a float, please attach a banner or sign identifying your organization to the front of your vehicle and/or attach to the float itself. ➢ If your group is marching in parade, please carry a banner or sign to identify your organization. ➢ Your group is welcome to wear Santa hats, but please do not have anyone dressed in a full Santa costume, as the real Santa (yes, Santa is real!) will be arriving at the conclusion of the parade. ➢ Only cars and vehicles that are part of your unit may park in the staging area. We will be sending a map shortly showing you the location of the staging area. Please arrive at the designated time as it takes time to get vehicles in the proper location. ➢ Vehicle drivers must hold an adult driver's license and be in compliance with all state requirements related to their vehicle. ➢ Vehicle drivers must remain with their vehicle at all times. ➢ Please do not encourage spectators to approach your vehicle. ➢ Please do not stop at any time during the parade (unless traffic dictates). ➢ There will be parade course marshals throughout the route whose job will be to keep the spacing between groups even and keep the flow running smoothly. Please watch for them and listen for their direction.
