THANK YOU CHURCH AND ALL THE HELPERS, LEADERS, CASSEROLE MAKERS AND HOST HOMES FOR A SUPER DNOW! RYAN REALLY GREW THIS WEEKEND.
Pastor’s Pen What a great weekend! I was blown away by DNow! Ryan and all of our adult leaders prepared an amazing experience for our students. There were many different times in which I was awestruck by the generosity of you, the members of FBC. Many of you gave all weekend to make sure the students learned and encountered God in a special way. Thank you for the investment in our students. To those who donated food and time preparing meals, thank you. Now, I have a question I would like you to consider. Was it worth it? If we consider the money and time spent this weekend as an investment, did we receive a good return on our investment? My answer is absolutely. One young lady made her commitment to Jesus public Sunday morning with some others working on making that decision complete in their lives. Add to that, the number of students working on their Christian walk and experiencing serving and leading others in Bible study. In my book, that makes the investment absolutely worth it. We learned some great lessons to help us prepare for the move to three worship services and two Bible study times. The Pastoral staff will evaluate and talk through adjustments. Holding the three services really gave us a great opportunity to learn and adjust for our future.

He is Able A minister decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday sermon. Three worms were placed into separate jars. The first worm was put into a jar of alcohol. The second worm was put into a jar of cigarette smoke. The third worm was put into a jar of good, clean soil. At the conclusion of the sermon, the minister reported the following results: 1. The first worm in alcohol - DEAD. 2. The second worm in cigarette smoke - DEAD. 3. The third worm in good, clean soil - ALIVE. So the minister asked the congregation, "What can you learn from this demonstration?" A little old woman in the back quickly raised her hand and said, "As long as you drink or smoke, you won't have worms!" That was not quite what the pastor wanted them to learn. This past weekend, was DNow weekend, which is all about discipleship. Ryan and a whole lot of volunteers led our youth to be focused on serving the Lord. We all probably approached the weekend with different pre-conceived notions of what it would be about. There were Bible Studies on being a servant; there was worship where kids were saved; there were opportunities to serve and then we had three worship services on Sunday to boot! “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above what we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” Ephesians 3:20 I learned a lot throughout the whole weekend: how great our youth are and all the things they will tell you when it’s late and they’re tired! I learned we have a lot of folks that can make great breakfast casseroles! I was reminded that God is still in the business of changing lives! Sure, the 9:30 service went a little long, but seeing kids praying at the altar makes it all worth it! Lest we forget, that is why we are here. That’s why this building is standing on 5th Street! We are here to help people find Jesus and experience real life change.
