Organizational Overview SVP is a network of engaged donors that brings together nonprofits and philanthropists to learn from each other and build capacity for positive community impact. Our leveraged approach allows us to provide larger, longer term grants to nonprofits in the areas of Kindergarten Readiness, College & Career Readiness, and the Built & Natural Environment. While this position will be an employee of SVP, 65% of the role will support the Statewide Capacity Collaborative – a collaborative of 10 institutional foundations in Washington state, working together since 2009 to align and strengthen the capacity of nonprofits and statewide nonprofit ecosystem. Together we envision a healthy and resilient nonprofit sector, where individual nonprofits thrive, communities work collectively to address their needs and the sector is seen as a force for change. The SCC pools grant dollars from each individual foundation and make collaborative investments in line with our priorities around advocacy and policy for the sector, access to capacity building tools and resources and leadership development. SVP Seattle staff is a tight-knit team of 9 who are driven by a shared passion for achieving our mission and vision. Position Description + Key Responsibilities This is an exciting part-time position for someone kicking off their career in the non-profit sector or wanting to return to work part-time who is interested in learning more about foundation partnerships, systemic change and donor engagement. The Program Associate, under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Collective Action, will play an important role in supporting the success of SVP’s facilitation of funder collaboratives and engagement of donors in SVP’s Collective Action Strategy. The Program Associate’s key responsibilities will be to provide logistical, administrative and program support to the Statewide Capacity Collaborative. Additional responsibilities will include general administrative program support to our Collective Action strategy –including our grantmaking processes and donor education on systems change. Statewide Capacity Collaborative (SCC): 65% of time Manage and oversee logistics for monthly SCC meetings including calendaring, note taking, scheduling speakers, scheduling rooms, coordinating food, and set-up/take-down
Partner with Sr. Manager on ongoing coordination with individual funders, grantees, consultants and community partners as it relates to advancing the SCC’s work Assist with grant research and proposals, annual workplan development, and promotional materials Maintain and update SCC documents and electronic files Oversee and maintain SCC website development Manage corresponding collaborative working space(s) on intranet site
General SVP Collective Action Support: 35% of time Logistical support to Sr. Manager of Collective Action- including scheduling of meetings, recruiting speakers for donor education, grantee check ins Maintain up-to-date Salesforce records as it relates to grantee management Support grant making processes including communicating with applicants regarding grant process and monitoring grant follow up Participate as appropriate in meetings with grantees, SVP Partners and community stakeholders Work collaboratively with Senior Manager and SVP partners to streamline and improve appropriate processes
Qualifications & Skills
Commitment to the mission, model and work of Social Venture Partners and the Statewide Capacity Collaborative. Strong organizational and project management skills including attention to detail. Ability to listen, assess, identify appropriate resources and implement solutions. Can take initiative, work independently and as part of a team. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills, and the capacity to work effectively with a wide range of personalities and working styles. Excellent written, verbal, and organizational skills. A demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and be composed under pressure. Comfortable with Microsoft Office products and ability to learn new software. SVP uses Salesforce as its main relationship management system as well as a collaborative intranet system. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with the capacity to work effectively with a wide range of personalities and working styles. Experience with website maintenance and management preferred, willingness to learn required.
Compensation This is a part-time salaried position at 24-hours per week (.6FTE). Annual salary for a .6FTE is $31,200 equal to $25 per hour. Benefits will be offered on a pro-rated basis of 60% of coverage. Eligible benefits include medical/dental/vision coverage, 403(B) with employer match and vacation.
