The Crazy Quilt Dragon Game INSTRUCTIONS
A strategy game for 2 players. Supplies Needed: Printed game board, 14 game pieces – 1 one color, and 13 a different color. (Game pieces may be any small candy such as Hershey's kisses, M&Ms, Skittles, jelly beans, Cheerios, etc. Be creative!) The Crazy Quilt Dragon is a variation of the classic strategy game Fox & Geese. One player is the Crazy Quilt Dragon, who has ONE game piece on the board. The other player is everyone else in Maybeland, who has THIRTEEN game pieces on the board. The object of the game is for the Maybeland Characters to capture the Crazy Quilt Dragon, by surrounding him so he cannot move. Arrange your game pieces on the board as shown. Players toss a coin to see who will play the Crazy Quilt Dragon. The “Maybeland Characters” player will move first. Players take turns moving their pieces to an adjacent point along a line, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. However, the Maybeland Characters may NOT move backward. They can only move directly forward, diagonally forward or sideways. On the Maybeland Characters' turn: You may move any of your pieces (one move per turn) to try to box in the Crazy Quilt Dragon so he cannot move. Your object is to confine him so he cannot move and get away. On Crazy Quilt Dragon's turn: You may move your piece in any direction to keep from being captured. Also, if any Maybeland piece is next to you with an empty space directly behind it, you may capture that piece by hopping over it into the empty square, and then removing the captured piece from the board. Your object is to keep from being caught, while at the same time capturing as many of the Maybeland Characters as you can. Captured pieces are never replayed onto the board and remain captured for the remainder of the game. The game is finished when either the Maybeland Characters are reduced to two remaining pieces, or by the Crazy Quilt Dragon player being unable to move. This is both a strategy game and an unequal game, so players should take turns alternating between playing the Crazy Quilt Dragon and the Maybeland characters. The player who wins the most games wins the match.
Some Interesting Variations to try: - Give the player controlling him the option to start the Crazy Quilt Dragon anywhere on the board not occupied by a Maybeland Character. - Try letting the Maybeland Characters start with with 13, 15 or 17 pieces. - You may also make a rule that if the Crazy Quilt Dragon can take a Maybeland Character, but does not do so, a new Maybeland Character is added anywhere on the board by the Maybeland player.
