THE GAZETTE MAJESTIC OAKS HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION OF OCALA, INC. The official newsletter Vol. 18, No. 3, Whole number 151 Ocala, Florida, August 10, 2016 Herb Zabroski, President……..509-3026 Ann Ivone, Treasurer…………237-6259 Lou Bartolomeo, Director.……871-3484

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE By now I am sure that the Community is aware that the Covenants Rewrites passed by a majority vote and that they were submitted to the Marion County Clerk for processing. Once the Covenants are returned to the Board, copies will be made and distributed to the Community by Mr. Tony Ivone, who chaired the Covenants Rewrite Committee. Thanks to all the homeowners who have commented so favorably about the work done on the entrance walls for Majestic Oaks. For those that haven't noticed, the walls have been repaired, painted and updated with new signs. New shrubbery and flowers have been planted and soon, new curbing will be added. Thanks to Mr. Lou Bartolomeo who put a lot of effort into making sure these projects were completed. Our thanks also go to Lou for following up on the beautiful job of the trees being trimmed on 54th Court and the grounds at the flag pole being cleared of dead and overgrown shrubbery. He continues to work diligently as Landscaping Director assuring the common areas are well maintained. You should know that this is the first time since approximately 2008 that the walls and common areas have been completely refurbished. This Board was determined to tackle the landscaping and wall restoration projects that had been overlooked for so many years. The Board is looking for a few more volunteers for the Covenants Compliance Committee. If volunteers don’t step forward, the community won’t have a reason to complain that the Covenants are not enforced. The Board is doing everything it can, but it is not the sole responsibility of the Board to enforce the Covenants. This is your community too, and if you can’t spare a little time to help out, then please stop complaining. There are 600 homes, with more being built in time. A few more volunteers would certainly help make the Committee’s job much easier. Too many people are under the impression that they can just call Board members 24/7 and demand we do things, sometimes outside of our jurisdiction. Many people also feel they don’t have to be involved in the running of this Community. Yes, you elected the Board to oversee Majestic Oaks, but just like any successful organization, it takes active participation by all the members. The Board is comprised of volunteers who want to keep our Community well maintained and an enjoyable place to call home. We care about the Community or we wouldn’t seek to join the Board. It doesn’t take much time to help out.
The Gazette August 10, 2016
It seems that we have had a rash of juveniles using the walls as gathering areas. The Board was notified that a number of teens, some most probably from Majestic Oaks and others visiting that have been climbing on the walls. What surprises me is that those who reported this didn’t call the Sheriff’s Department. If anyone sees any improper behavior, such as this and other vandalism, please don’t call the Board to handle it, you should immediately call the Sheriff’s Department and report this. Also, empty beverage cans and bottles are being dumped around the flag pole area. Come on folks, this is your community too, please help pick up litter! Elections The November MOHOA Board elections are not far off and there will be three Directors positions that will need to be filled. Surely there is 1/2 of 1% of the Community that can find a little time to fill a position which will benefit the best interests of the entire Community. Please consider becoming part of the solution to help Majestic Oaks continue to thrive as a desirable community by running for a position on the Board. If you’d like to run for a position, create a Bio of a few paragraphs sharing your experience and thoughtful ideas that will benefit Majestic Oaks. The deadline for submitting a Bio is October 1 and you may contact Bob Watson, Secretary, to make arrangements to get your Bio to him. Annual Garage Sale We’ve had a number of inquiries about the Annual Garage Sale that is held in tandem with Bent Tree. The event has not been finalized as of yet, but as soon as we have more information, we’ll post it on our web site — http://www.majesticoaksfl.com/ — and in our next Gazette, following the September Board meeting. HOBBY CORNER I have been doing Crochet for several years. Some I’ve sold and some I have given as gifts to friends and family. The Christmas trees were fun to make and decorate. The baby blankets are usually used for baby showers and gifts. I have donated some to Charity to help brighten a child’s outlook. These are just a few of the blankets I make. I also have a cat, dog, owl, rodeo rider, ducks and a monkey! When I was working, I took orders for my blankets and trees in different color combinations; or the trees for various sports teams or even for baby gifts. This hobby keeps my hands busy while watching TV and I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment in the finished product! Submitted by Ann Ivone
