February 2017 “And so I am giving a new commandment to you: love one another just as much as I love you. Your strong love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. John: 13:34, 35 From the Director: It is hard to believe that we only have four months of the school year left. The next few months go extremely fast since we have so many special activities planned so please watch the teachers boards and the calendars. To incorporate the training we have been attending with Nemours, taking steps to Healthy Success, we have posted a calendar with suggestions on how to move every day. We will be putting out 2 special recipes per month for the families to sign up for different items. The children will make the special recipe and share it for snack. We are hoping by introducing the children to healthy eating at this stage of life that we can help them develop good life long eating skills. Mark your calendar for our annual Family Fun Night which will be on March 16th! I would like to remind everyone that we have an open door policy and you are welcome to visit your child’s classroom at any time. Important Reminders
Donuts for Dads:- 3 year olds We would like to invite that special man in every child’s life to spend the morning with us in the classroom on February 2nd !They will begin with a special story and a few songs at 9:00 and then offer doughnut holes!! You are welcome to stay as long as you like!!
Valentine’s Day: The children will be exchanging valentines. Your child may sign whom they are from but please do not put names on the front of the envelopes. The three year olds will be having a special lunch and all the VPK children will be making strawberry shortcake!! President’s Day: On President’s Day, February 20th, there is class for VPK Room 17!! There is no class for VPK extended care and room 30 but extended care is open. Please sign sheet indicating if you will be attending the extended care program. Wacky Wednesday- All VPK students! Don’t forget to wear your clothes inside out, different color socks and /or shoes, funny wigs or hats, or just don’t coordinate anything! Let’s see which class and get the most participation!!
FAMILY NIGHT: Please join us from 5:00pm to 7:00pm for our third annual family night, on March 16th.We are inviting different organizations from our community; there will be a bounce house, soccer shots, snow cones, small games and a spaghetti dinner. The tickets will be on sale at the preschool office for the spaghetti dinner beginning February 20th. It will be a great opportunity to see what our community has to offer and spend time together as a family!! Additional information will be coming out very soon so keep looking. Fall registration: Fall & summer registration for in house students will begin March27th. Please remember that your current balance must be at zero in order to register. We will open registration to the public for summer and fall beginning on April 3rd. The school age program will be doing registration for their summer program at the same time. Please contact Vicki at 2677308 x4 for more info. VPK Certificate of Eligibility: For the upcoming school year if your child will be 4 on or before Sept.1st they are eligible for the VPK program. This year you will be able to print the required certificate online through the Early Learning Coalition. Please watch your child’s teacher boards for more updates!
May 10th VPK-Muffins for Moms
March 30th - VPK will be going to Fort Christmas for their field trip on March 30th. Parents are responsible for taking their children and must remain on the premises during the scheduled field trip.
May 11th 3’s Muffins for Moms
Fox Lake Farm- The three year olds will be going to Fox Lake Farm on April 20th . This is a working farm and the horses are used for therapy with the special needs children at Oak Park Elementary. Parents are responsible for driving the children and spending the morning with them.
May 18th VPK End of Year Program
Tax Statements: Tax statements for the 2015-2016 school year are available in the office. Please give a 24 hour notice.
