During the last week of February, UTEP Athletics celebrated the 16th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD). This day is a nationwide celebration that started in 1987 to honor Flo Hyman for her athletic achievements, as well as the work she put in to ensure equality for women in sports. Some of
the ways athletics celebrated this day was by appearing on the Kiss Radio Show, Saturday Live Radio, and by hosting the annual Flo Hyman Award Banquet. At this banquet the Flo Hyman award was presented to three young ladies in the El Paso community who exhibited success both
academically & athletically, showed leadership, and conducted service in their respective communities. These ladies were also honored at halftime of the Women’s basketball game vs. Southern Mississippi, followed by an autograph signing by all of the UTEP women’s athletic teams.

Never leave valuables in plain view in your car. Lock items in your trunk before reaching your destination. Take turns behind the wheel, and whoever sits shotgun should stay awake to keep the driver company. When using Uber or Lyft, match the drivers name, license plate number, and photo to ensure you are getting in the right car. Never get in a car with someone you suspect is intoxicated, as there is always a safer alternative. Page 3
