Change Order No. 1 to Contract No. 16-09, Centennial Building Electrical Upgrades - Island Electric
At its meeting of February 4, 2016 the City Council adopted the motion approving Contract No. 16-09 in the amount of $103,422 for the upg rade to the museum from single phase to three phase power. As indicated in the attached memorandum from Senior Engineering Techn ician Matt Brown, construction activities for this project started on February 17, 2016 and were observed to be substantially complete on April 29, 2016 with successfu l installation of the new transformer and associated distribution equipment. Attached for City Council review and consideration is Change Order No. 1 (Final) to Contract No. 16-09 in the amount of $6,186. Throughout the course of construction there were a series of small change orders that added code-required scope above and beyond the contract drawings. The proposed change orders fit within the project contingency of $7,850 that was approved by the City Council. Should Councilmembers have any questions or concerns, Mr. Brown will be attending the City Council meeting of May 19, 2016 and will be able to respond accordingly. A motion has been prepared for City Council consideration.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the motion approving Change Order No.1 (Final) to Contract No. 16-09 Centennial Building Electrical Upgrades to Island Electric in the amount of $6,186; authorizing funding from the Centennial Building Electrical System Replacement Capital Account project contingency; and direct the City Manager to execute the change order on behalf of the City Council.
Recommended Motion: I move the City Council approve Change Order No.1 (Final) to Contract No. 16-09 Centennial Building Electrical Upgrades to Island Electric in the amount of $6,186; authorize funding from the Centennial Building Electrical System Replacement Capital Account project contingency; and direct the City Manager to execute the change order on behalf of the City Council.

From an overall budget perspective it is interesting to note that the exterior transformer work associated with Ketchikan Public Utilities was performed for less than the originally budgeted $ 17,072 and will result in credit of $2,854.96 to overall project costs.
RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve Change Order # 1-Final to Contract No. 16-09 Centennial Building Electrical Upgrades to Island Electric in the amount of $6,186.00 to be paid from the Centennial Building Electrical System Replacement Capital Account project contingency and direct the City Manager to execute contract documents on its behalf.
