The Perfect Game
OCTOBER 7, 2017
Do you want to know the secret to a perfect AYSO game? I can tell you. There’s a great scene in the movie, “Remember the Titans”. I know it’s the wrong kind of football, but stay with me. David Jones Regional Commissioner
It’s halftime of the state championship game. Big Julius says, “Now, I ain’t saying that I’m perfect, ‘cause I’m not. And I ain’t gonna never be. None of us are. But we have won every single game we have played till now. So this team is perfect. We stepped out on that field that way tonight. And, uh, if it’s all the same to you, Coach Boone, that’s how we want to leave it.” There is a team at every AYSO game that can help make that game perfect. But a lot of people don’t even know it’s there. It’s the AYSO team. The AYSO team is Coaches, Parents, and Referees working together to make sure the game is Fun, Fair, and SAFE for our kids. The AYSO team has four simple rules. 1. Work together 2. Help each other 3. Protect each other 4. Do our best The triangle is a fundamentally strong shape, and it represents how our kids are surrounded and protected by the AYSO team members… as long as we work together! Here’s another secret. I’m not perfect. I make mistakes – a lot – as a coach; as a referee;
even as a dad. Some of them are small. Some of them are big. But that doesn’t matter. Because if we all work together – coaches, parents, and referees – our team can be perfect. Our games can be perfect. And our kids can have the perfect soccer experience they deserve. So, be part of the team. Help keep soccer Fun, Fair, and SAFE for our kids! The basic rules for Silent Saturday are: 1. No one off the field may say anything aloud to anyone on the field. Signs and rally towels and other silent means of expressing support for the team are encouraged. 2. Coaches may not yell any direction to players. They can talk to players who are off the field to prepare them for when they return to the game. (There are some exceptions for the younger divisions. These will be communicated directly to the coaches in those divisions.) 3. Referees will help ensure that everyone is following directions and is abiding by the spirit of Silent Saturday, and may gently correct behavior if necessary.
Almost There! Thanks to your great efforts, we have raised $19,791.00-- just $459 short of our sponsorship target! It’s not easy to ask for donations, but almost every team participated. Every team in division’s 6UG, 8UB, 12UB, 14UB, turned in sponsorships on picture day. The Flame Throwers (12UG06) are our best fundraisers, raising a total $1,675 from several donors. Donations varied from a few dollars to $1,000. We are specially grateful to our gold, silver and bronze donors: Gold Sponsor ($1,000)

Please Be a Courteous and Careful Driver Drive slowly and watchfully. Please watch for children, who may suddenly enter the street from behind a parked car. Treat the roadways in and around the park like lanes in a parking lot. Give one or more short warning “toots” on your horn before backing up. Observe Parking Restrictions Park only in designated spots. We have heard about, and seen, cars parked in loading zones, in the access area between parking spaces for the disabled, along red curbs and in front of driveways. Please be aware the Alhambra Police Department will ticket and may tow your car. Please don't ruin a beautiful Soccer Saturday. Drive and park with care.
