The Manual Plan Overview

The Manual Plan Informed by the rich history of our school, past community processes, present review of data, school visits, other ideas that have been presented via the 2014 DPS Call for Quality Schools, and the hopes and desires of current and future Manual scholars, parents, staff and community, we have thoughtfully crafted this plan to self-determine our future. We share a brief overview of the Manual Plan below.

Our Vision, Mission, and Values Vision Transformation through Excellence Mission We equip diverse scholars with knowledge, character and twenty-first century skills through a personalized comprehensive design that empowers 100% of Manual scholars to contribute locally, compete nationally, and lead globally Manual Core Values Wellness of mind, body, and community through better Choices Every life matters through Connections Transformation through Equal Opportunity Honor through Integrity Responsibility through Service Impact through Grit Vision through Awareness Excellence through Innovation Our Model The Manual Plan is proposing an innovative 6-12, made up of two academies, James Ward 6-8 Academy and Manual High School 9-12 Academy, that leverage the strengths of IB (International Baccalaureate) Middles Years and IB Diploma Programme to ensure that 100% of our scholars graduate ready for college without remediation. In addition to the IB focus, electives in our high school will be driven by the life visions of our scholars. Vision Academies are four distinct areas of study: International Business/Economics, Professional Studies, Performing Arts, and STEM. Our Vision Academies will provide a college preparatory curriculum with a career theme in partnership with local businesses, non-profits, colleges and universities, and DPS that enable scholars to gain real world connections to learning and experiences in career fields that prepare them to be positive change agents in their chosen field of study.
