Setup: "2v2 Desire Game" 25x25 yd grid with 2 teams of players lining up kitty-corner. Coach has a pile of balls, and goals are placed in the middle of each endline. Instructions: Play begins by coach playing a 50/50 ball into the grid, and the ᭄rst player in each line runs onto the ᭄eld to play in a 2v2 situation. Assign each team a speci᭄c goal. Goals are scored by dribbling through the goals, not shooting. Variation: Play with 4 goals, either 2 on each endline, or with a goal in the middle of each line: NSEW. Coaching Points: Verbal communication - calling the ball, head up and ᭄nd the open space. Call which of the 2 teammates goes for the ball. Battle to gain possession. We need the ball to score - GO GET IT!!!Once in space, dribble for speed with the toe down, laces/outside of foot for contact, and stride through the goal.
2 Setup: In a 20x20 Grid with big goals, split two teams with lines on diagonal corners from each other, and goalkeepers in each goal. Instructions: Coach plays a ball into ᭄eld and a player from each line comes out to play 2v2 to goal. Play until ball is out of play. GKs can distribute if they gain possession. Once players get the ᭜ow, add that they can pass to one of their lines to "unlock" another teammate. You can unlock multiple players as long as you rotate lines. Game can build to as many players as you have until ball goes out of play. Coach can manipulate game as sees ᭄t. Coaching Points: Play forward when you, go to goal quickly Get help if needed How do we use numbers up situations, force defenders to make a decision
