About the Eagles Edgewood College and first-place Wisconsin Lutheran were neck-and-neck for about 35 minutes last Wednesday before the Warriors took off in the final moments. The Eagles then fell in a 56-51 overtime heartbreaker at Aurora on Saturday. The Eagles trailed 50-38 early in the fourth before a 9-2 run made it a two-possession game with just 3:52 to go at WLC. The Warriors then went on a 6-0 run and put the game away with free throws down the stretch. WLC eventually won 68-49. The Eagles shot 45 percent in the first half and were led by Rachel Pope’s 16 points and seven rebounds. Sierra Jiran had eight points and hauled in nine boards on the night. Zoey Dougherty had a career-high 13 points on Saturday but the Eagles fell short in the final few minutes of the overtime period in Illinois on Saturday. The Eagles and Spartans traded the lead five times in the extra frame. After a Jazmin Little triple that tied it at 47 with 1:35 left, the Spartans hit 9-of-10 free throws down the stretch to close it out. Dougherty was 4-of-11 from the floor, including two threepointers and three assists. Pope had 12 points while Sierra Jiran had 12 boards. Little had six assists on the day.

About the Raiders MSOE has dropped two of its last four games but both of those losses were to the teams tied atop the NACC standings. They fell to WLC 73-55 on Jan. 19 and fell to CUW on Jan. 27 by a score of 58-55. After losing its first four games this season, MSOE then went on to win 11-straight before its loss to WLC. Junior forward Holly Denfeld leads the NACC in scoring at 17.6 points per game and is fourth in rebounding at 9.2 per game. Her 57.9 field goal percentage is also tops in the conference. She had 24 points on 11-of-14 shooting against Edgewood College earlier this season on Dec. 8.

We are very excited about the upcoming season. We have a great group of young ladies who have been working hard this fall ready to take on our tough non-conference schedule. We open with UW Oshkosh, and play Wartburg in December. Then continue with UW-Whitewater and UWStevens Point over our holiday break. We are gearing up for conference and cannot wait for our game schedule to start. This season our mindset and energy have been outstanding! We have a hard working family with a championship mentality this season! Our family motto this year is “Getting Better Every Day!” #GBED! We challenge you to get better every day as a supporter. Our precision and commitment is to our family and making this year the best we can! We thank you for everything you have done and we cannot wait to see you getting rowdy in the Edgedome! SEE YOU IN THE DOME! GO EAGLES!!
