Eldridge Detention Basin is one of four stormwater detention basins that were master planned by SWA for Brays Bayou. As part of the flood mitigation project, Project Brays, Eldridge detention basin will become a major node along the thirty five mile master plan. SWA worked with the Harris County Flood Control District to create a plan that not only satisfies stormwater detention needs, but also provides a regional park with a diversity of habitats in the form of wetland edges, large swaths of reforestation, and expansive prairies comprised of native grasses. The plans also consider future implementation of recreation amenities such as trails, bridges and boardwalks, water access areas, parking, shelters, and site overlooks. Miles of trails will culminate in unique site views that are created by shaping the basin earth excavation into strategically placed hill landforms.
