Location Nanjing, China Client Nanjing China Overseas Property Ltd. SWA Scope Landscape Master Plan Size 42 acres
SWA provided landscape master plan services for this 42-acre site, which situates a living green roof atop an extensive parking deck, thereby unifying a mixed-use community of residential towers, a shopping mall, and a school. In reference to the area’s natural landscape heritage, the design concept is, “flowing river and floating mountain.” The waving berm system represents the body of the river, and travels between residential and commercial spaces, and between underground and ground-level spaces, serving to integrate the site into a whole. By elevating the residential high-rise towers above the first floor, the ground level becomes one integrated park with a mountain of towers floating above it. The eco-conscious site includes a comprehensive storm-water management system of bioswales, a rain garden, wetlands, permeable surfaces, erosion control, and a retention basin.
