EWGA Golf Tip Club head speed is one of many elements that combine to equate to a powerful golf swing which ultimately increases distance. Body coil, hinging of the wrists, correct timing, and centeredness of contact are also factors in creating power. The easiest and quickest way to build power in a golf swing is by starting with coiling the body. During the backswing, ideally the hips should only rotate approximately 45 degrees, and the upper body 90 degrees. This is the perfect combination to create the “X” factor that creates power. To teach your body how to coil effectively, try out this drill at home. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Cross your arms across your chest like you are giving yourself a hug Stand in a golf stance with athletic posture Back up to a wall so that both of your “glutes” are touching the wall Rotate the upper body, back and through, without moving the lower body

By stretching these muscles out you will begin to create separation in your body that will ultimately equate to more power in your golf swing. The more powerful a golf swing is the further the ball will fly!
