Location
Home based, with regular travel across the North East of England. Flexibility to work across Yorkshire/Humber. Additional travel to Bristol, Birmingham and London.

Purpose of the role
Secure and develop commissions for the FFLP programme at local level and ensure their effective delivery, including line management of local programme managers.
Key responsibilities
Qualifications
Develop opportunities for commissioning, making best use of existing relationships and initiating new ones across the region, with local authorities, public health bodies and other stakeholders Develop and negotiate potential FFLP business models with commissioners, including budget and project delivery requirements, working with the Northern Commissioning Manager and National Commissioning Manager as required Contribute to national targets to help secure a sustainable business model for the FFLP beyond 2014/15 Work intelligently alongside other FFLP delivery programmes in the region, including the School Food Plan Provide support for ongoing activity in local authorities, including some presence in FFLP schools Recruit and line manage Local Programme Managers delivering FFLP in locally commissioned areas Contribute towards monitoring and evaluation work by discussing with commissioners and ensuring effective local involvement Support the extension of the FFLP approach in new settings through the commissions, including nurseries and early years. Identify opportunities to pioneer new approaches to commissioning FFLP, for example combining healthy eating and exercise, innovative delivery mechanisms or working in partnership with the Soil Association Sustainable Food Cities network Contribute to policy environments locally and nationally which support the extension of the FFLP programme Raise and maintain the FFLP’s profile across the North East and further afield, acting as an ambassador and spokesperson for the programme Alongside the National Commissioning Manager, contribute towards the development of training packages which support the extension the FFLP programme and generate income
Essential Educated to degree level or equivalent Desirable Advanced qualification in public health
Knowledge & experience
Essential Substantial experience of business and relationship development at a senior level Experience working with and influencing senior members of staff at local authorities and regional levels Substantial project management experience, including budget control Knowledge and experience of the demographics of the region Experience of managing people, including remote teams Experience of working with schools Desirable Experience of securing a commissioned service (particularly with Public Health) Experience of working in a multi-agency partnership
