The Property

Letting Accommodation

The original Castle Mona building was constructed in 1802 with later additions to the sides which we are advised were built during the 1950’s. The Scottish architect, George Steuart, sourced the stone for the property from the Isle of Arran and it is widely believed his inspiration for the property came from his interest in Scottish castles.

98 en suite bedrooms (approximately 30 in the main building)

The Castle was initially built as a grand residence for the fourth Duke of Athol, and used as a hotel from 1831 onwards.

Parking for approximately 70 vehicles to the front and side.

The principal building is arranged over three storeys with stone elevations under pitched tile and slate roof coverings behind a series of castellated parapets. A feature central turret rises from the roof of the main building. The east extension, of brick construction, extends to four storeys and largely provides guest room accommodation. To the front of this is a further two storey extension which houses the bowling alley and nightclub areas. In the past, the property traded as a hotel and provided 98 bedrooms, a bowling alley and two nightclubs. The operation ceased trading in December 2006.

Basement Extensive storage areas and plant room External Areas

Opportunities The property would suit various alternative uses such as residential development, subject to the necessary consents. Services We understand that the property benefits from all mains services. Tenure Details We are advised the property is held freehold.
