GAME NOTES OPENING TIP
Gettysburg plays for the fourth time in six days as it hosts Haverford today. ALL-TIME SERIES Gettysburg holds a 27-7 lead in the all-time series, but Haverford has held the upperhand of late, winning each of the last six meetings. The two teams have met in the postseason in each of the last two campaigns with the Fords coming out on top both times. LAST MEETING Haverford held on for a 58-55 victory over Gettysburg in the opening round of the Centennial Conference playoffs last season. The Bullets wiped away an 11-2 deficit to start the game and took a 24-23 lead at halftime. the Fords regained the lead on the first possession of the second half and never let it go. Gettysburg trimmed the advantage to 56-55 on a lay-up by Jenna Swope ’15 with 1:24 remaining, but Jacquelyne Pizzuto converted a lay-up of her own on the next possession to set the final score. Jessica Porter ’16 finished with 18 points and five rebounds, while Emily Gibbons ’18 posted 12 points and seven boards for Gettysburg. LAST TIME OUT Gettysburg downed Swarthmore 72-54 on Thursday. The Bullets used a 10-0 run at the end of the first quarter to grab the lead for good and led by as many as 24 in the fourth period. Senior Jessica Porter dropped in 18 points, while classmate Kim Ryan dished out a career-high 10 assists. Sophomore Annie Reilly posted 11 points and seven rebounds and freshman Emma Dorshimer logged a dozen points.
HERE’S THE DISH Senior Kim Ryan has been racking up the assists this season. Ryan dished out a career-high 10 against Swarthmore, marking the most assists by a Bullet since Cori Younghans ’14 posted the same number against Bryn Mawr on Dec. 1, 2012. Ryan has posted at least three helpers in every game this season and she ranks second in the Centennial at 5.6 assists per game. Her average is the highest by a Bullets since Maureen Andrews ’95 averaged 6.8 in 1992-93. THE COUNTDOWN TO 1,000 With 46 points in her last two outings, senior Jessica Porter has vaulted even closer to gaining entry to the 1,000-point club. She is just 40 points shy of becoming the 14th Bullet to reach the scoring benchmark. FIRST-YEAR SCORING LEADER Freshman guard Emma Dorshimer has reached double-figures in each of her last seven outings. She paces all first-years in the conference and ranks fourth overall at 15.2 points per game. SCOUTING HAVERFORD... Haverford has won three of its last four with its only loss during that stretch coming at the hands of No. 9 Montclair. The Fords beat Johns Hopkins 45-38 on Thursday. Sophomore Samantha Wetzel picked up 16 points and 10 boards to lead the Fords past Johns Hopkins. Sophomore Sierra Berkel and Senior Olivia Walsh narrowly missed doubledoubles, the former posting nine points and 11 boards and the latter finishing with nine points and 10 boards.
