OPENING BELL Gettysburg takes on York in its first home dual match of the season. THE SERIES York has won the last 18 meetings with Gettysburg and leads the all-time series 28-5. The Bullets last victory over the Spartans was 37-11 in 1991-92. LAST MEETING No. 28 York downed Gettysburg 38-6 during the 2008-09 season. The Spartans won by fall and technical fall in the opening two matches and scored three more wins by forfeit. The Bullets picked up decisions by Patrick Doherty and Luke Mitchell at 157 and 184 pounds, respectively.

LAST TIME OUT Gettysburg placed 11th out of 13 teams at the Messiah Petrofes Tournament. Freshman Jared Leon led the Bullets with a fourth-place finish at 174 pounds. Leon won each of his first two bouts and scored a win over the No. 1 seed in the wrestleback to place for the fourth time in as many events this season. Fellow first-year Dan Grabfelder and sophomore Kevin Poplaski each finished one bout shy of placing at the event. Grabfelder logged a pair of pins and a major decision at 165, while Poplaski managed two pins and a decision at heavyweight. HEAVYWEIGHT RECORD Although he won’t be competing tonight, senior heavyweight Bobby Christopher is on the cusp of a career wins record. Christopher will enter his final semester with a career record of 74-35. That puts him in a tie with 2007 grad Mike Pattanite for first in wins by a heavyweight in program history.

ON THE RIGHT FOOT Gettysburg won its dual opener against Scranton 24-18 on Nov. 11. The win marked the Bullets’ first opening dual win since a 24-23 decision over Elizabethtown to start the 2000-01 campaign.

FINDING A PLACE Freshman Jared Leon has placed in the top four in each of his first four events of the season. He has finished fourth at King’s, Oneonta, and Messiah, while placing third at the Ursinus Fall Brawl. Leon leads the team in wins with 15. GRAB AND THROW Dan Grabfelder has pinned eight opponents already this season. That’s the best total by a first-year since Matt Shank ’08 put down 16 foes in 2004-05. Grabfelder has one one decision among his 13 wins and he leads the team in pins, technical falls, and major decisions (tied). SCOUTING YORK...  York is off to a strong start with a pair of top-three tournament showings to go with four dual-meet wins. The Spartans are coming off a third-place effort at their own New Standard Corporation Invitational. Both sophomore Chris Albright (141) and junior George Saliba (197) won individual titles to lead the hosts.  Chris Albright and George Saliba each won their respective weight classes at both the King’s Monarch Invitational and the New Standard Invitational. Albright has eight major decisions and four falls at 141 with his only setback coming at the hands of eighthranked Nick Garber of Waynesburg. Saliba has won all 13 of his bouts at 197 by decision, including a trio in sudden victory. Both Spartans are ranked 10th in the nation in their respective weight classes.
