Great Meeting Flight # 48 THE CAPTAIN’S CORNER: Harley H. Pope Flight #48 had another fantastic turnout for the April meeting.
Our April meeting each year is one of the most anticipated and exciting events that our members look forward to. The Flight presented a $1000 check to each of our two ROTC scholarship recipients. We were also pleased to announce each cadet received a matching scholarship from National. Each cadet was presented with a Daedalian Challenge Coin engraved with the year 2014 as a remembrance of this event and our organization. Both cadets were selected for pilot slots at the February AFROTC rated board. Cadet Nolan Kirkwood attends the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (UNC-CH), Detachment 590, majoring in Environmental Science and maintaining a better than 3.0 GPA. He will graduate in May of 2015. Cadet Patrick Falaro attends North Carolina State University (NCSU), Detachment 595, majoring in Aerospace Engineering while maintaining a 2.8 GPA. Patrick is ranked number one of 16 cadets in the detachment's FY2015 graduating class. We’re still waiting on the North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame in Asheboro, North Carolina to see if they would like to display our Flights Memorabilia. This month's meeting is the one that everyone has been waiting for, “Nostalgia Night.” Bring something about your flight history or some memento that reminds you of the good old days. Everyone’s time will be limited to no more than 5 minutes and two questions. We should have four (4) new members joining our flight. This flight is on the move and taking off. Thanks for making this a celebrated flight. If you need a new nametag, please email how you want your name on the tag. Checking with Walt Hersman if the country club will permit us to wear Party Flight suits for this meeting.
