We have a limited amount of clothing items for students that get sick while at school. If your child has come home with different clothes from the office please wash and return those items. If you have any extra items that you could donate to the school we are looking for extra sweatpants, leggings, t-shirts or sweatshirts. The clothes are for student’s pre-k thru 5th grade so sizes from 4t up to adult small are appreciated. Thanks!

Winter Weather Reminders Over the past week we have had colder temperatures in the morning. It is important for parents to be sure that children are prepared for outdoor recess. This includes hats, gloves, and winter coats. When we have coats and hats we are also more aware of concerns with head lice. It is a good practice to check your child once a week or more often if they have persistent itching.

What to Look For • • •

Look for lice. They are small grey-white insects that live and reproduce in the scalp. They attach themselves to strands of hair and lay eggs. Look for nits, which are the eggs left behind on the hair. They are most often found in the hairline at the back of the neck or around the ears. Nits look like a piece of dandruff. Dandruff can easily be flicked off the hair; nits cannot. They are firmly attached. Watch for persistent itching

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Parents: This week we are kicking off our fall PTO fundraiser. We appreciate all of your cooperation and work in this important activity. The PTO helps to support programs and provide opportunities for our students in grades K-6. Each year we hope to raise $10,000 to fund the PTO programs. Some of the recent PTO contributions and programs include: • $5,000 for new seating in the elementary library • Transportation for students to end of the year field trips • Annual homecoming inflatables following the homecoming parade • Purchase of Patriot Pride prizes and Pride t-shirts • $10,000 donation to kick off the fundraising for the new elementary playground • Teacher requests and stipends These programs and activities would not be possible without the support of our PTO. This year we will once again be selling items from Great Plains Fundraising. In addition, this year we will be selling bed sheets from Sheets, Sheets, Sheets. Students can sell from both of the fundraisers and all checks can be made out to HBC PTO. If costumers purchase from both of the fundraising vendors they can combine their purchase in one check. We will be selling for the fundraiser over the next two weeks and orders will be due on October 22. Thanks so much for your help and support of our school!
