[email protected] BOOK WEEK NEWS We were lucky enough to have brilliant children's author, Antony Lishak, visit our school for two days this week. He spent some of the time discussing his books and encouraged the children to attempt writing from experience! He held writing workshops and gave the children some really helpful advice on improving their creative writing. We have some exciting events coming up for Book Week including a wonderful interactive performance of The Wind in the Willows on Monday. You will have noticed the Travelling Book Fair has arrived! Book are available to purchase from today until next week Thursday and the Fair is in the main hall before and after school. We receive 60% commission on all purchases made! The culmination of Book Week is Book Character Day which takes place on Friday 12th February. Children and staff can come to school dressed as well known book characters of their own choosing. Prizes will be awarded to the best costumes.

In addition to this, our ICT Coordinators are holding a talk for parents and carers on the importance of keeping our children safe on the internet. This talk will take place in the Early Years Building on Tuesday at 9.10 am. If you wish to attend please fill in the slip your child will have brought home or speak to the school office. SKY SKILLS STUDIO This week some children from year 5 and 6 had the opportunity to visit to the Sky Skills Studio in Osterley. Whilst they were there they created a TV news report on the impact of social media on shaping young peoples views and opinions. They were assigned different roles and encouraged to work together to produce a creative and interesting report. Using cutting edge technology the children filmed and edited the news reports that they had written earlier in the day, the result was both informative and humorous. The children were also lucky enough to go on a behind the scenes trip of the Sky Studios and see the 'mission control room' where everything comes together before it is broadcast. The staff at Sky and the adults supervising were all very impressed with the behaviour of the children and we all had a great day! 8th February 8th February 9th February 12th February 12th February 22nd February 22nd February 22nd February 23rd February 24th February 25th February 2nd March 2nd March 9th March 9th March 16th March 16th March 23rd March
