Last week there was a theft from the school during home time. We believe this theft was carried out by a person who has targeted other local schools between 3.30pm and 5.00pm. As a result of this, we have taken the decision to close the back gate at 3.45pm for security and safeguarding reasons. We are sorry for the inconvenience we know this will cause you but we trust as a school community you will appreciate and agree with us that school security is paramount and that is why we have taken this decision.
Handlebards Workshop On Monday, Years 5 and 6 had a fantastic time watching a performance by the Handlebards, a four-strong troupe of actors who carry their props on bicycles and perform Shakespeare plays across all over the UK. They put on a comical performance of Romeo and Juliet. It was lovely to see the children so engaged throughout. The highlight of the show had to be when Mr Rockett was included in a scene. Some year 5 children also participated in a workshop and learned some new acting skills with the actors. PARENTS EVENINGS Parent evenings this term are on 19th and 20th October and run from 4-7pm. The first parents evening is extremely important as it gives you an opportunity to find out how your child is settling into their new class. All the sign up sheets are on display outside classrooms. If you do not accompany your child to school can you please send a note in with some suggested times and a preferred evening. The class teacher will then provide you with an appointment time. Books for years 2-6 will be available in the hall for you to see prior to your meeting.
Language of the Month Assembly This week some of the children who speak Urdu in the school participated in our language of the month assembly. All the children enjoyed learning some of the Urdu language, watching the dancing and listening to the Pakistan national anthem. Thank you to all the children who were involved and to the parents who attended. Could it be your language we celebrate next month? I liked the song we sang in the assembly; I used to sing it when I was four years old – Raffi Year 5 I am really happy that I participated in this fabulous assembly and I never thought that Urdu would be the first language of the year! I would like to say thank you to Mrs Henry for making this assembly possible - Iqra – Year 4
