IMMIGRANTS IN FLORIDA: VITAL TO OUR ECONOMIC FUTURE The state of Florida benefits from the presence of immigrants, who provide vital contributions to the economy and community life. •

In Florida, 19.2% of the population and 24.2% of the labor force is foreign-born.



Of Florida’s immigrant population, 62.3% are homeowners.

32.9% of children in Florida live with at least one foreign-born parent. 92.9%of these children are citizens of the United States by birth. 77.3% of the immigrant population are working age (between 16 and 64 years of age). 14.5% of the immigrant workforce is self-employed, representing 29.7% of all self-employed workers in Florida. 17.4% of Immigrants work in Education, Health and Social Services industry, and 11.7% of immigrants work in Sales and Related occupations.
