THE HAND OF GOD “Humble yourselves, therefore under the mighty hand of God that He might exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. ” 1 Peter 5:6 Today you may be facing a really serious or difficult situation. You may be worried sick and don’t know what to do. Before you do anything , humble your heart before God and seek Him in prayer. The Apostle Peter said we should be clothed in humility and humble ourselves before God. If there’s one thing God resists, it’s the person who is too proud to ask for His help. Too proud to admit they have a problem. 1 Peter 5:5-6 says “God resists the proud, but gives grace (power) to the humble. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He will exalt you at the right time, and cast all your care upon Him, because He cares about you.” How do we experience the mighty hand of God on our lives? Only through good old fashioned humbled prayer. Prayer is a declaration of our dependence upon God, and our trust in God. When we pray, we are casting our cares on God which moves His mighty and powerful hand. For many Christians, prayer is difficult or non-existent. This is quite a contrast to Christ’s example. His life was a life of prayer. He prayed alone, through many nights, in public and lived in a constant prayer mode. Even though He was God, Jesus prayed because He was completely dependant upon God to direct Him and lead Him. His Dependence released power! The mighty hand of God was seen and experienced. You may find praying a really difficult task, maybe because you don’t really understand or believe that God is actually listening. Isn’t it incredible that we can have an audience with our Heavenly Father, and He actually cares about everything we talk to him about. Prayer is one of the most misunderstood activities in the church! Prayer is the most important Kingdom activity on earth. That is why Jesus prayed so much. John Wesley once said, “It seems that without God, man can do nothing, and without man , God will not! Miles Munroe said, “Prayer is earthly licence, for heavenly interference.” Friend, the mighty hand of God is waiting on you to pray! © Ps. Sonia Thomas

INNERLIFE NEWS MATURE COUPLES RETREAT Last weekend 28 couples representing over 500 years of married life headed off to Elkanah Lodge in Marysville Victoria. Andrew and Leonie Shaw organised a really great weekend with a few games that had us laughing and sharing in great fellowship. Senior Pastors Peter and Sonia took alternating teaching (copies available on foyer table ) on topics—Reflecting God in your marriage, Finding the Good in one another, Communication and more. Marriage is something that God made. We don’t need to ask for Him to be involved, but rather understand that He gave us marriage and He is in a godly marriage because He wants to glorify Himself and give us a holy relationship to enjoy that bears fruit. You are never too old to learn how you can improve your life and relationships. Special thanks to Andrew and Leonie and to all the couples who attended. We look forward to doing it all again next time!
