Committee Members: Liz Peck – League Coordinator, Kathy Anderl, Melinda Boyd, Jim Determan, Cathy Farrell, Wendell Hunt, Rebecca Johnson, Steve Odegaard, Janet Messman, Doug Peter, Jamie Powers, Kim Schau, Heather Sundermann Committee Highlights : Iowa USTA League participation grew by 3.71% in 2016 and retained 76.7% of players over the same 2015 time period. Total number of players increase by 100+, playing on a total of 204 teams at the various league levels, approximately the same number of teams as in 2015. Teams advancing to 2016 National Championships: 3.5 40+ Women – Elmcrest CC, Captain Nancy Almasi 8.0 40+ Mixed – Elmcrest CC, Captain Heather Sundermann District dates for 2017 will be June 9-11 and June 23-25. Bids will be sent to CTA’s and facilities in early January for an opportunity to bid on these events. The League Tennis Committee approved an increase in registration fees to join leagues by $2/team. The registration fee had not been increased since 2009. The court cost for participating in a USTA League match increased to $15/match at the request of clubs, the last court cost increase was in 2009. The League Tennis Committee was held in July at the Iowa City Public Library. League Information meeting in Iowa City was postponed due to the flood conditions in Cedar Rapids, a new date will be determined and captains notified. The Des Moines area meeting was held on the scheduled date. Player Participation
