Despite being outshot 43-25, the Cougars received stellar goaltending from th rookie Ty Edmonds who stopped 42 shots en route to his 18 victory of the season. Prince George finished the game one-for-two on the power play while the Kelowna Rockets were zero-for-four. POTENTIAL PLAYOFF PREVIEW? Tonight the Prince George Cougars continue a stretch of three consecutive games against the B.C. Division leading Kelowna Rockets. So far this season the Cougars are 1-5-0-1 against the Rockets, and had previously dropped 13 consecutive games against them prior to Saturday’s victory. Zach Pochiro (2G, 5A) leads the Cougars with seven points in seven games this season against the Rockets. Assuming the Cougars can leap-frog the Tri-City Americans into eighth place, the Cougars would likely meet the Kelowna Rockets in the first round of the playoffs. Heading into tonight’s game the Prince George Cougars sit one point back of the eighth placed Tri-City Americans for the final playoff spot in the west. Tri-City has 10 games remaining in their season while the Cougars have seven. Tonight the Tri-City Americans are idle. th

BOURKE CLOSES IN ON HUNTER: With two assists on Friday, February 14 in Kelowna, Cougars captain, and Colorado Avalanche prospect Troy Bourke became the all-time assists leader in Prince George Cougars history with 141. The 19-year-old product of Onoway, AB has spent his entire four year career with the Prince George Cougars. In 269 games, Bourke has scored 80 goals and 226 points, and is now just seven points shy of matching Eric Hunter’s franchise record of 233 career points. This season Bourke has 25 goals and 50 assists, which are both new season highs. FIDDLER’S STREAK CONTINUES: 20-year-old forward Todd Fiddler is currently in the midst of a 15-game point streak. Over his past 15 games, Fiddler has scored 14 goals and added 12 assists for 26 points. Since joining the Prince George Cougars in early November 2013 (after a trade with the Moose Jaw Warriors), Fiddler has exploded offensively. In 45 games, he has scored 39 goals and added 36 assists for 75 points. So far in February, Fiddler has scored nine goals and has added nine assists for 18 points in 11 games played. THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT: 16-year-old forward Jansen Harkins (5G, 10A) has recorded 15 points over his past 15 games. Since returning from the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, the rookie forward has tallied 20 points in 23 games. Fellow rookie forward Brad Morrison has scored eight goals and has 13 points in 23 games since returning from U-17’s (Team Pacific). LEADING THE PACK: Todd Fiddler leads the Prince George Cougars with 41 goals, 85 points, 15 power play goals, 21 road goals, and five shorthanded goals. Cougars captain Troy Bourke leads the team with 50 assists and 23 multi-point games. Marc McNulty (17G, 23A) leads all Cougars defencemen with 40 points. Zach Pochiro leads the team lead in penalty minutes with 113. Wil Tomchuk leads the team plus-minus with a +9 rating. Jansen Harkins (10G, 20A) leads all Cougars rookies in scoring with 30 points. COUGARS ROSTER BREAKDOWN: The Cougars have 26 players on the roster with 14 forwards, 9 defensemen and three goalies. The Cougars have three 20-year olds, five 19-year olds, 11 18-year olds, four 17-year olds, and three 16-year olds. The roster includes: 13 players selected by Prince George in the WHL Bantam Draft, nine players via trade, two from the free agent list, and two via the CHL Import Draft. The roster breakdown by region looks like this: Six are from B.C., 10 are from Alberta, five are from Saskatchewan, two are from Slovakia, and one each from Manitoba, the Yukon Territory, and the United States.
