Dear Families: We have had a great start to the school year. Parents and guardians have a very vital role in helping our school be successful. We have Parent Teacher Conferences coming up, October 17 from 3:30-9:30. It is very important that you make it a priority to meet with your student’s teacher. If school is important to you it will be important to them. Parents matter in the success a child has in school. We would like to remind parents to encourage their students to wash their hands before eating and after using the restroom. The weather is changing, and this is the time of year we start to see an increase in student absences due to illness. The school is taking every precaution to help prevent the spread of germs and your help is greatly appreciated. Students need to have a set schedule where they are going after school. We no longer change buses at the last minute. We have hundreds of students that ride buses. This is a great service our school district provides. It is very confusing for students to come to school and not know where they are going after school until late in the day. Some buses are full and we can’t add a student at the last minute. We appreciate your help with this matter. If you have an emergency come up, just call and we will help all we can. Please do not pick your child up early unless it is an emergency. Anytime we have to call a classroom for a student it disrupts the learning process. When going through the pick-up line, please make sure your “pick-up” tag is visible. If your child is a pick-up, and you need a “pick-up” car tag, please let the office know. Again, thank you for all the support you provide to our school. Please be involved with your child’s education. It is very important for their success.

From the Nurse's desk.... There are several things you can do and also teach your children to do in order to stay healthy:
Students of the Month
PreK: Joscelyn Joiner KG: Delilah Smith 1st: Elizabeth Rogers 2nd: Leyahnna Berry 3rd: Ryan Moss 4th: Marissa Washington 5th: Aubrey Alexander
1. WASH YOUR HANDS! Wash your hands before you eat, before preparing food, after playing outside, and any time they become soiled. 2. Cough and sneeze in the crook of your elbow instead of your hand! This way you will not contaminate surfaces such as door knobs and desks when you touch them with your hands. 3. When you use a tissue, use it only once then throw it away. Do not save it in your pocket. 4. If your child is sick and running a fever of 100 degrees or greater, or if they are vomiting, or have diarrhea, they MUST be kept at home. Head checks will be done in October if your child has lice or nits you will have to pick them up from school and cannot return to school until lice and/or nits are completely removed. Your child will need to see the nurse upon returning to school. Flu shot forms are due back by October 25th for your child to be able to receive a Flu shot on October 30th. PreK and Kindergarten student’s requesting a Flu shot will be required to have parent present to be able to receive shot. If you have any questions please feel free to call me: 580-564-0904.
