Please make sure that you are doing a quick review every evening on the sight words. A daily review will help your child get these words into long term memory and will help with reading fluency.
In Math we will matching numerals to quantities 6-10 and focus on writing the numerals 6-10.

Hamburger or breaded pork chop/tator tots/fruit/ salad Tues. steak sandwich or Stromboli/ corn/salad/jello Wed. baked potato w/chili or frito chili pie/pinto beans/salad/fruit Thurs. fajitas or taco salad/refried beans/salad/jello/fruit Fri. pizza or sub sandwich/green beans/fruit

We will review alphabet letter names and sounds for letters a-n and introduce o and p. We will also be working on capital letters. Many of you have asked what you can do to help your child. Here are some areas of need: 1. Do the daily assignment in the homework packet. It will be due on Oct. 31st. 2. Review the letter names and signal for each letter with the letter sound. 3. Go over the sight words listed in this newsletter. Go over them every day like flash cards. You don’t have to spend a lot of time-it is the consistency that counts! 4. Don’t forget to read library books and record them on the reading log. This month’s goal is 15 books. The reading log is part of their homework and is recorded on their report card.
Upcoming events: No school October 18th and 19th for fall break.
Fabulous Friday Snack This week we are learning the letters o and p. If you would like to send an item that begins with o or p, please write me a note in the MOOSE folder.
Our class is learning about fire safety. Please do these activities together as a family.
Home Fire-Safety Checklist After you do each thing, check it off this list.
❑ Learn this rule by heart: If there is a fire, get out and stay out.
❑ Check the batteries in your smoke alarm. ❑ Have a fire drill. Find two safe ways out of your home.
❑ In case of a fire, pick a meeting place that’s outside your home. Draw a picture of your meeting place here.
