Cambodia also has a 443 kilometre coastline on the Gulf of Thailand. It is a mostly flat and forested land and has a tropical; or rainy, monsoon season (May to November) and a dry season (December to April). The name "Cambodia" comes from that of the ancient Khmer kingdom of Kambuja meaning “land of Kambuja". Kambuja referred to an early Indo-Iranian tribe, the Kambojas, named after the founder of that tribe.
Cambodia is only about half the size of Victoria.
Cambodia has changed its name under each new government. It has been called the Khmer Republic during its republican years, Democratic Kampuchea under Cambodia has the only national flag in the world the Khmer Rouge regime, and People’s Republic of with a picture of a building on it, the Angkor Wat. Kampuchea. Today, in its latest government, it is officially called the Kingdom of Cambodia. The blue colour symbolizes the country's royalty. The red represents the nation as well as hardiness, bravery, strength and valour of the people. The white represents the religion. The emblem of the Hindu and Buddhist Temple, Angkor Wat, represents the structure of the universe. The first Cambodian flag came into existence around 1863 and was quite similar to the current Cambodian flag. Many variations of the flag were used when different political parties ruled the country. The national flag of Cambodia was re-adopted in 1993, after elections returned the monarchy to rule. For further information contact Email:
