Dear Parent/Guardian Year 10 Trip to a Performance of Antigone in London – Wednesday 4 March 2015 As you are aware, 40% of the drama GCSE is a written examination and as part of this the students need to write in depth about a play they have seen performed in a professional theatre. Therefore, we are planning a trip to watch a production of Antigone at Stratford East theatre. This theatre is famed for its imaginative productions often targeted to the 14+ age group, and will be an excellent opportunity for our students to see innovative contemporary theatre at its best. For more information and to view a trailer for the show go to http://pilot-theatre.net/?IDNO=1583 For this trip to take place we are requesting a contribution of £24 per student. The school has subsidised the trip to provide value for money. It is possible the trip will not be able to go ahead if insufficient contributions are received. If you wish your son/daughter to take part in this opportunity, please complete the acceptance form below and return it with your contribution to school as soon as possible. The closing date for this trip is 27 February 2015. Refunds can only be made available if the place can be refilled or the trip doesn’t run. Students will need to be in school at the normal time of 8.40 a.m. in full uniform. The coach will depart at approximately 12 noon as the performance starts at 2.30pm and we will return to school at approximately 6:30 pm. Students will need to bring a packed lunch. However, if entitled to a free school meal, a packed lunch can be provided by the school canteen, please indicate on the reply slip below if this applies. Students are permitted to bring spending money if they wish but this should be no more than £10. This will be a fantastic outing and is likely to be oversubscribed so please do reply quickly to ensure your child’s place.
