NEW Statewide Term Contract Effective Dates: June 28, 2017 – June 27, 2020
Type A School & Activity Buses – 071B The Division of Purchase & Contract in cooperation with the Department of Public Instruction has established a new Statewide Term Contract to provide Type A school and activity buses. This is a mandatory contract for state agencies, departments, institutions, universities and community colleges - unless exempted by North Carolina General Statute. Non-mandatory entities, including schools and local government, may use this contract if allowed by general statute. A Type “A” school bus is defined as a van conversion or bus constructed utilizing a cutaway front section vehicle with a left-side driver’s door with a GVWR less than or equal to 21,500 pounds.
New Contract Highlights This contract provides: Several configurations with optional lifts and/or flat floor. These configurations are small, gas, passenger max 14 + driver; medium, gas, passenger max 18-25 + driver and large, gas, passenger max 26-30 + driver. The flexibility to purchase from multiple manufacturers which ensures that Agencies are able to obtain buses that match what is in its existing fleet and aides in controlling maintenance costs over the life of the bus. The flexibility to add new options at a percentage discount off MSRP and as future options become available. Service locations are available throughout the state. Each Vendor has a dedicated account representative to ensure agencies receive the utmost level of customer service and placement of orders. In addition, there is two (2) one-year renewal options available for each contracted Vendor.
