Message Community: How do we love? Series Six Practices of the Church ___________________________________________

Today’s Message The idea of “community" is valued in Christianity. Many churches are called “Community” churches. Even our church includes the word in our name…Mountain Springs Community Church. The idea of community resonates throughout the Bible. Take Acts 2:42ff for example. “All the believers were am together…every day they continued to meet together… they broke bread10:00 in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts…" Today’s passage begins with a squabble about whom and what Jesus is. It continues with the rescue complex of his family, trying to get him out of a troubling situation. But Jesus answers in all this mess and says, “Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.” This broken, messy, squabbling gathering is where the community of Jesus is present.
Budget 2017-2018 Today, after the worship service, we will have a congregation meeting to vote on the proposed 2017-2018 church budget. There will also be a motion regarding Mountain Springs Community Church building.
Motion: That Mountain Springs Community Church not spend substantial money on improvements to the current MSCC building. Grounds: Our current facility requires a great deal of effort and money to update and we will still have a dated building with maintenance concerns and design challenges if it is updated.
Today’s Special Offering The special offering today will be for the Back to God Ministries International (BTGMI). The BTGMI’s deepest desire is to see God’s Word change the hearts and lives of people around the globe. Their mission is to proclaim the Gospel, disciple believers and strengthen the church. Geography, poor educational systems and religious persecution can make hearing the Gospel a challenge. Through media, technology and their indigenous ministry team, BTGMI is helping to overcome that challenge.
Property Map-Volunteers Needed There is a map of the church property on the wall in the back of the sanctuary. We are asking for volunteers to ‘adopt a section’ of the property. This does not include mowing or trimming the lawn. This is to keep the area you choose to take care of weed free and looking nice. You may volunteer for any section as a group or by yourself. There is no set day or time for you to take care of your section. We just ask that by Sunday morning the entire area has been cared for at some point during the week. If you have any question you may contact Kent or Lorna. Thanks for your help keeping our property looking nice throughout the year.
