Parents Evening Survey Dear Parents/Carers Thank you to all of the parents who completed our latest survey on parents evening. If you managed to escape my clutches your view is important too! The survey can be found on the parents page of our new school website. I would love your opinion so that I can gauge how well we are doing. The responses so far has been overwhelmingly positive. However 2 parents responded with ‘disagree’ to the statement “The school deals well with bullying”. As the questionnaire is anonymous I do not know who you are, but please, please get in touch with me. I am unaware of any bullying incidents that are not being/have not been dealt with and would really like to find out and help to resolve them if this is the case. The school and I have a zero tolerance approach to bullying in all of its forms. Thank you. Mrs Colotto

To raise funds for our woodland garden project and to encourage children to cook we will be holding the ‘Great Croft Bake Off’ over the next half term. Each week one class will be given free bun tins (for you to keep) and in return will be asked to use them to make products for a bake off sale on Thursday and Friday of the following week. This week the tins will go home with Jeffreys class, ready for a bakeoff sale on 28/29 April. The class that makes the most money will win a whole class prize.

An invitation…..

Croft CE Newsletter Page 2 Values Last week our value was wisdom. Finlay Lawrence, Leighton Rathbone, Henry Borderick and Olly Milton were chosen as excellent examples of children who live this value. Well done. This week our school value will be integrity. ‘Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways’ Proverbs 28.6

Rainbow Room Preschool News Show and Tell This week, can you please send your child with a picture of a farm animal or a photo of a recent visit to a farm.

Topic We are going to carry on from last terms’ topicanimals- as we feel that there is a lot more left to explore and the children are enjoying learning about animals very much. For the rest of the week, we will carry on learning about farm animals and next week we will start learning about zoo animals.

Reading to children Reading to your child at an early age is one of the most enjoyable and memorable bonding experiences you can ever have. It helps the children’s cognitive, emotional and educational development. After the Easter holiday, we would like to invite parents to spend a few minutes each week, if they have the time to spare, to come and read a book to their child or to a small group of children. Health Eating workshop We will be hosting a healthy Eating workshop with Ellis Stretton on Monday the 16th of May. For the convenience of parents, I have asked Ellis to come in at nine o’clock in the morning. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about how to keep your child healthy, and about making the right food choice for optimum health. If your child does not normally attend pre-school on Mondays, you are still very welcome to come and join us.

Parent Consultation Sessions This week...... If you have not already managed to book an appointment, please speak to your child’s key person. Dates: Mrs Patel- Monday the 18th of April Mrs Peel- Tuesday the 19th of April Mrs Lightbown- Friday the 22nd of April Mrs Modi- Friday the 22nd of April

Weekly Plans

The weekly plans can be found in a wallet stuck on the resources cupboard door in the main classroom (just above the children’s selfregistration board). We have also stuck a list of all the children’s targets we are currently working on. If you would like to take a look at the targets, or have suggestions to make regarding these targets, you are welcome to discuss these with your child’s key person. Book Sale We will be having a second-hand book sale throughout this week. We have a great selection of books that we are selling at a very cheap price, so please come and support pre-school raise some funds. Stranger Danger Last week, we actively spoke to the children about stranger danger. We broached the topic by reading the Little Red Hiding Hood story to the children and watched an animated film about Little Red Riding Hood visiting her grandma and finding herself in danger following her encounter with the Big Bad Wolf. We have also used some ‘Kid Power’ resources to get children thinking about why it is so important to be aware of possible dangers of talking to strangers and about how to keep safe.
