ALL ARE WELCOME!
Cliff Notes: The Lenten season is upon us and it is a time for reflection on our Christian lives. As Christ makes his way to Jerusalem we make our way to lives that more closely resemble His life. A priest in California liked to symbolize this by putting us in a desert-like condition to help us determine what is most important in our lives. Wherever you have put yourself during this Lenten season I hope the journey has been and is successful. Our journey like Jesus’ brings us to Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, March 24th. That service begins in the Community Room at 10:00 am with our entrance into Holy Week. The week continues with the remembrance of the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday, March 28th at 5:30 pm. We continue by witnessing the crucifixion at noon on Friday, March 29th, with a service that includes walking the Stations of the Cross. Celebration of the Risen Christ takes place on Sunday, March 31st at 10:00 am with our Easter Service, followed by fellowship shared at a Carry-in Brunch. Please join us at St. Thomas for all these important services. We will be working with the Rev. Canon Tristan English in the coming months to determine the future direction of St. Thomas. Everyone is important in this conversation and I ask you to contribute and participate as this process develops. As your interim priest my involvement will be minimal. An update on my eyes: I am happy to report that the operations went well and “I can see clearly now”. It is amazing that my sight that I thought was good was not but now is. Unless there are some minor corrections that need to take place my recovery is complete. I thank you for your prayers and patience during these past several months. Have a most blessed Lent. Fr. Cliff
Walk through Holy Week with us to the “Alleluia” of Easter!
A Search for new Lay Ministers and Acolytes In the last few months we have had some changes to our list of Lay Eucharistic Ministers and adult Acolytes. John Angst will be often in Cheyenne and hopes to be able to serve St. Mark’s in this way, but will not be available to our service schedule. Avis Sinner has also had to withdraw as an Acolyte for now, and, along with the graduation of Ty and Chelsea last spring, this leaves us with a short list here as well. You are invited to pay close attention to the work these folks do in the service and search your heart, with prayer, to see if you might be called to “take on a robe of white”—an Alb. There are plenty robes of all sizes in the Sacristy—that door beyond the organ—and it takes minimal training for those who love lighting candles. A little more training, and a love of the Word, allows the Vestry to request that the Bishop license a person to read and serve the wine. Please consider what might fit you!

Taco Tuesday Report— Report—and more This year of 2013 found the largest and happiest group of volunteers present on Shrove Tuesday that has been seen—both in the kitchen and in the Community room that afternoon. Great Thanks go to Randy Lahr and Lary Treanor who came with their own, sharp, knives in hand to attack heads of lettuce, along with bags of onions, tomatoes and green peppers. Cindy Lewis and Kay Jacoby stirred steaming pots of ground beef—and women galore (all ECW members, of course, because we ALL are) poured salsa, filled baskets of chips and strew Mardi Gras beads on the bright table cloths. Bowls and roasters and crock pots were filled, and our Senior Warden, Dick Hodge, took tickets at the door. The turn-out was not as big s usual— lots going on in town. But all had fun and Taco-fulfillment! About $300 was raised.
Following our Easter Service on March 31st we will end the Lenten journey as we started it with wonderful food in the Community Room. The bowls full of Taco makings will give way to a Carryin Brunch when we will ooh and aah over our family recipes and just cherish the time together. QUESTIONS about anything you see here or want to volunteer? Give Mary Ellen a call at 455-2313.
We still have some boxes of our wonderful 2010 Cookbooks to sell—now for a reduced price of $17. We are looking into Museum bookstores across the state. Any transport help, or other ideas, welcomed!
St. Thomas Bits and Pieces The vestry has elected to look into purchasing shades for the windows in the Community Room after the wonderful turnout for “The Gospel of John” movie presented by Sylvia at the end of her class. Cardboard and garbage bags hung to block glare just don’t seem right when we have this great community facility! Our new Junior Warden, Randy Lahr, has also followed the last vestry’s wishes to purchase and install new tall toilets, and turn the hallway bathroom into one for men and women alike. Soon! Dubois Super Foods has established a fund to purchase needed items for our Food Bank—Easter goodies this year! Thank them!

The St. Thomas Community Room was well used when twenty or so people came to watch “the Gospel of John” movie hosted by the class leader, Sylvia Crouter.
