ALL ARE WELCOME!
It’s TACO TUESDAY Time at St. Thomas Since our last interim, the Rev. Peter Ensor, suggested we change our traditional Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper into TACO TTUESDAY festivities we have enjoyed this fund-raising evening with many townsfolk in attendance. The Mardi Gras beads decorating the tables often go home around their necks, especially the children’s! All you can eat Tacos for $5—under 12 $2—keep the kitchen parishioners very busy. The SIGN-UP sheets are out in the Coffee Room—and need everyone’s help to either bring some of the listed items (tomatoes chopped at home are especially appreciated!) or donate shopping money towards the last minute trip to WalMart to pick up whatever has not been “adopted”. Please send donations to the church office! This is our largest fund raising event of the year for the General Fund, and the amount in the Budget Event Income line will not be achieved unless we are able to have all the ingredients donated in some way. Take a look at the list, and check your cupboards for things like olives, Salsa, etc…There are so many ways to help. Lastly—we have the cooks—we need a separate Clean-up crew to sign up! Thanks!

Do these events meet your need or interests? Lillie Lichtenwalner will be helping some of us learn to knit the Healing Prayer Shawls in the coming weeks. No date is set, but there are several on the list to learn. Please let the office know at 455-2313 if you are interested, and instructions will be forthcoming. Amedysis Hospice and Home Health is sponsoring a Bereavement Group to meet for the first time at Kathy’s Koffee at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, February 22nd. The group is meant to help people through loss of any kind, whether it be a loved one’s death, a best friend moving, a companion animal or a job gone, or skills lost due to health issues—or the loss of a dream. ? to Lizzy, 1-612-581-8271

Ash Wednesday prepares us for Lent, & Easter “The ritual of ashes is simple and clear, reminding us that we, like everything else on this earth, will die...the beginning and the end. Ash Wednesday is a reality check, a day that we step up and look at who we are and how we can return to the Lord,.. We are invited to journey inward to encounter and confront all that separates us from God. It is also a time to journey outward to encounter and confront all that causes pain, damage, and separation from others. Lent calls us to acknowledge dying to the old in order to be born into the new, to give up those things that get in the way of God and one another. Lent is a time to remember our baptism and our call to God. It is a season of change when we empty ourselves so that we might find new life, new birth and new health in our life with God. In Lent we reconnect with who we are, with who we can be, with who God made us to be. We are human beings made in the image of God, but we are dust and to dust we shall return.” Shannon Ferguson Kelly Services with Rev. Melinda Bobo at 8 am and 12:30 pm in the sanctuary Feb. 22nd
In 2010 Taco Tuesday supper was enjoyed by many friends from the town. We forgot to plan it until too late in 2011 and had calls from many disappointed Taco lovers. We are BACK this year, and look forward to a busy time being had by all—especially the cooks! Meat will be prepared in house as needed.! Help sell tickets ahead!
QUESTIONS about anything you see here or want to volunteer? Give Mary Ellen a call at 455-2313.
A chance to serve St.***Thomas The new Worship Committee, under the direction of Sylvia Crouter, had its first meeting to consider the Season of Lent and Easter. As we face the graduation of Ty and Chelsea we are in great need of some new acolytes. Adults are most welcome! If you wish to help by occasionally reading the Old Testament Lesson there is a sign-up sheet available to let us know of your interest in being a Lector, as well as being an Acolyte. The St. Thomas Prayer Chain will also welcome your interest. You choose to either just receive a call, or to pass the request on to two other members. Info is available in the Coffee Room. Finally it was felt that parish input would be helpful in knowing what favorite hymns or songs you would like to be a part of our Worship Service. All this interest and input can be given to the church office to pass on. Be a part of our worship in whatever way that God calls you!

The Lectern is lit and waiting for all those who wish to read the lessons on a Sunday. Readings are given out ahead of time— and enlarged from the insert if requested! The sound of many voices adds to our understanding.
