Senior Football Valley Rovers took on Bishopstown in the Kelleher Shield in Brinny yesterday and came away with the spoils. Valleys had the two first scores of the game through Eoghan Delaney and Kevin Canty. Bishopstown responded with a goal but Valleys equalised quickly with a Darragh Crowley Point. The two teams traded points before Bishopstown struck for another major followed by a point. Valleys response was immediate however with points from Jack Walsh and Gary Farrell and a Eoghan Delaney goal to leave the half time score Valley Rovers 1-7 to Bishopstown 2-2. Valley Rovers dominated the scoring in the second half scoring 11 points to one in a 23 min spell before Billy Crowley put the game beyond doubt with a well taken goal. Fiachra Lynch added the Rovers third goal three minutes from time and Valleys ran out convincing winners on a score of Valley Rovers 3-19 to Bishopstown 2-4. This win sends Valley Rovers joint top of the table on 8 points. Team

Results: Valleys 0-2, bride rovers 2-3. Valleys 2-3, Inniscarra 1-1. Valleys 1-2, Blarney 2-4. Minor Hurling League. Valley Rovers minor hurlers played Sliabh Rua in the Premier 2 Hurling league in Riverstick on Tuesday April 7th at 7 pm. This was a good test for this team as they lined out without Cork squad players and Chris O Leary who was playing with the Cork Minor Hurlers on Wednesday night. Sliabh Rua opened the scoring in the 2nd minute with a point from play this was cancelled out in the 4th minute by a point from play scored by Aaron Lyons. Over the next 10 minutes Valley’s put over 4 points, one from play by Sean O Regan who also converted 2 long range free’s in the 10th and 13th minute with Colm Butler converting a close range free in the 11th minute. Sliabh Rua got a point from play in the 16th minute which again was cancelled out by a point from play by Colm Butler in the 19th minute. Sliabh Rua got a point from a free in the 20th minute which was again cancelled out by a excellent point from play by Sean O Regan in the 22nd minute. Over the closing minutes of the first half Sliabh Rua scored 4 points with 1 of these coming from a free. Valley’s responded with 2 more points from play scored by James Callanan in the 24th minute and Sean O Regan in the 26th minute who finished the half with a tally of 5 points. Valley’s lead by 2 points at half time on a score of Valle Rovers 9 points to Sliabh Rua 7 points. Valley’s made changes at half time with Cathal Dart O Flynn replacing Robert Sean Sweetnam in goal and Adam Settini coming on at corner forward instead of Cathal Dart O Flynn. Again Valley’s opened the half well with 3 points from play in the 1st 4 minutes scored by Gary Deane, Dan Sweetnam and Aaron Lyons. Sean O Regan also converted a long range free in the 2nd minute. Sliabh Rua again Responded with 2 points from play in the 6th and 7th minute. In the 9th minute James Callanan struck for a Valley’s goal and Sean O Regan added another point from play in the 10th minute which looked to have settled this contest, but an injury to full back Andrew O Callaghan unsettled the Valley’s defence and over the next 10 minutes Sliabh Rua scored 1 goal and 4 points without reply. This left only 1 point between the teams with 10 minutes remaining. Again Valley’s took control and Sean O Regan and Adam Settini Scored 2 points from play in the 21st and 22nd minutes. Sliabh Rua never gave up and got a point from a free in the 27th minute followed by a point from play in the 28th minute to leave only a point between the teams with only 1 minute left. Sean O Regan sealed the

U15 Football On Easter sat Valleys u15 travelled to Fermoy for the Pa O Brien memorial tournament. In our group we had Carrigaline and Austin Stacks, we lost to Carrigaline 0-08 to 2-04 in a game we should have won comfortably having played reasonably well. In our second game against stacks we again played well and were only trailing by 3 points at half time before eventually losing on a scoreline of 3-10 to 2-04. Stacks are a quality team who won the competition outright. This put us in to the Tier 3 semi final facing Dohneys, we started very brightly leading at half time 1-05 to 001, Dohneys came back at us drawing level but Valleys responded brilliantly to win 2-07 to 1-05. We now had a final against coolmoore of Carlow this was a game where we played very well going on to win comfortably, with Niall Lawton accepting the trophy on behalf of a very honest group of players. Best for Valleys was Cormac Lyons who gave a great display in goal, David Muckian and Matt Devine and Niall Lawton in defence,Charlie Lyons giving his best display of the year around midfield and he was ably supported by Jack Crowley, up front we had good performances from Daniel Lordan, Brian Hoey and Conor Hurley, but overall it was a very good squad effort. Squad: Cormac Lyons, David Muckian, Mark O Leary, Ronan Cremin, Darragh Keane, Darragh O Shea, Matt Devine, Adam kenneally, Niall Lawton, Charlie Lyons, Jack Crowley, Ml Connolly, Conor Hurley, Matt Crowley, Brian Hoey, Ronan Hoey, Daniel McCarthy, Sean Barry, Daniel Lordan and the injured Shane Lynch.

Under 13 Hurling Cloughduv 1-5 to Valley Rovers 0-9 Well done to Valley Rovers U13 hurlers who defeated Cloughduv on last Wednesday evening. Valley Rovers were down a point at half time and came back to win by the same margin. With good free taking displayed by Conor Taheny and Eoin O'Sullivan, and good defending by Miah O'Sullivan and Diarmuid Ryan, Valley Rovers proved to be the better side in what turned out to be quite a physical game. All players showed that they can step up to the mark and display good hurling under pressure. U10 Hurling Our u10 hurlers had their first Rebel Og hurling blitz of the year in Ballinhassig last Saturday morning. The weather conditions were ideal for hurling and we had a great turnout of 22 players which enabled us to enter 2 teams. We played Sliabh Rua, Ballygarvan, Courcey Rovers, Crosshaven and Carrigaline over the course of the morning. Our lads put in some very strong performances and it was particluarly pleasing to see good first touch control and very strong striking from the hand. The extra sessions at the ball wall and the practice at home has certainly helped improve the hurling skills. Training continues Wednesday evening in brinny at 6pm. We will also be arranging some more ball wall sessions now that the easter school break is at an end. Next Rebel Og blitz is football on April 25th and we will also look to organize some additional matches over the coming weeks. As always thanks to the parents for turning out in large numbers to support the lads. The Under 10’s are the feature picture on page one of this weeks newsletter

Under 14 Report
News
The U-14 team won on a scoreline of 8-2 to 7-1. Valleys played with the wind in the first half and were just a point up at half-time. The girls deserve great credit for their second half performance which saw them extend their half-time lead despite playing into a strong wind. This was due to spirited defending and good forward interplay which resulted in some excellent scores. All 15 girls played excellently but Niamh Hurley, Sarah Lynch, Chloe Burton, Ellen Fennelly & Ellen Fehily deserve special mention for their battling performances. Team Laoise Collins, Rebecca Murphy, Rachel Lordon, Clodagh O’Donovan, Shauna Reilly, Niamh Hurley, Emma O’Donovan, Carol Cremin, Sarah Lynch, Ellen Fennelly, Jane Mulvihill, Nicole Calnan, Kim Muckian, Ellen Fehily, Chloe Burton. On a glorious Bank Holiday Monday Valley Rovers ladies U14 travelled to Clonakilty GAA to take part in the 2015 Feile Qualifiers. There were eight teams taking part Valley Rovers, Bandon, Bantry, Courceys, Kinsale, Castlehaven, O'Donovan Rossa, Clonakilty. We played 3 matches. Our opening game was against Kinsale, this was our toughest match and even though the girls played well Kinsale were the stronger team and won. Our second game was against Bandon. In this game Valleys gave it everything, showed great team spirit, great football skills and determination. It was a closely contested game and Valley's hard work paid off to win the match. Our last game was against Bantry, this was a tight game, Bantry led at half time but the girls rallied together to draw the match. Unfortunately Valleys didn't go forward as only the top two teams went through. Overall it was a great

Under 13 Report Valley Rovers Ladies U-13 Team had their first match of the season when they took on strong Clonakilty side on Sunday March 29th. A strong breeze made things difficult for both teams and they both took time to adapt to the conditions. Valleys were first to score when Niamh Crowley finished well to the net and Leah Hoey added another point to give Valleys an early lead. Goalkeeper Kate Lynch pulled off a string of excellent saves to keep out Clonakilty and to keep Valleys in touch as Clonakilty found their range with some close range points to lead 0-5 to 1-1 after 20 minutes. At this stage Clonakilty used the wind to their advantage and added a couple of quick goals to pull ahead 2-6 to 1-1 but the girls heads never dropped and the rallied strongly. Excellent interplay and teamwork between Orla O‘Sullivan and Molly Lynch enabled Valleys to tag on another 4 points without reply and when Niamh Crowley netted again Valleys went into the break 2-6 – 2-5 behind. In the last twenty minutes there was little between both teams and a goal and a point from Orla O’Sullivan and an excellent point from a tight angle from Leah Hoey meant Valleys stayed in the game right until the final whistle. In the end Valleys ended up just one point behind on a scoreline of 3-6 – 3-7. This was an excellent first outing from the girls who

showed great spirit and teamwork which is a very promising for the year ahead. There were excellent performances from Emma Kelly, Vicki Cuskelly, Niamh Hales and Leanne O’Callaghan but the whole team are to be praised for their team spirit. Team:

U12 ladies footballers On Thursday night last, Valley Rovers u12 ladies footballers played their first match of in the year when they took on Ballinora in a challenge in Brinny. Valleys had a massive turnout of 26 players for this match and each girl got a minimum of 30 minutes game time. Valleys started the brightest with some well taken points from ace sharpshooter Orla O'Sullivan before Ballinora settled into the game and replied in kind. It was pretty even for the rest of the half until Caoimhe McCarthy raced through the centre of the Ballinora defence before rattling the back of the net and with another point by Lucy Callanan, this gave the Valleys a halftime lead of 1.6 to 0.6. In the second half, Ballinora began to take control and chalked up some impressive scores, until Valleys rallied late in the half with more scores from McCarthy, O'Sullivan and Laoise Collins to show their fighting spirit. The end scoreline finished up Valleys 3.7 to Ballinora 4.10, this was a highly impressive performance from our girls, considering that there were 11 changes in personel at half-time and while this did disrupt the flow of football for a spell, the nature in which they rallied late in the second half will stick to them later in the campaign. The girls who played on the night included:

After a comprehensive win last week against Carrigaline, our U12s Camogie were to repeat the same performance again, when they played Banteer in their second league match of 2015 on Saturday away in Banteer. Not so different to last week, the girls played in a very commanding manner right from the start. Despite all the wonderful skills demonstrated, there were a lot of missed scoring chances in the first half, with a strong goal keeping and defence Banteer side. Both teams went in at the half time scoreless. Valley Rovers were to tell a different story in the second half, as their continued strong play, demonstrating what they are trained to do, resulted in a very strong score line, with goals coming from 3 girls. Scores included Kate Lynch 1-0, Fiona Horgan 1-0, and Orla O Sullivan 1-3, points coming from wonderful 45 frees. Unfortunately we had our first injury as Fiona Horgan, after scoring her goal, was injured as a result of a very close tackle with her opponent in the last ten minutes of the game. We are so disappointed for her, as she will be out for awhile. We are so proud of her commitment and attitude to the game. The players included Rhian Dawkins, Fiona Horgan, Orla O Sullivan, Jodi O Mahony, Molly Lynch, Kate Lynch, Siobhan Lordan, Rebecca Lordan, Aine Ryan, Aisling O Donovon, Aisling Fennelly, Hannah Morrissey, Tara Gilli, Grace Geary, Niamh Crowley. The score ended Valley Rovers 3-3, Banteer 0-0. We are so proud of them.
