Minor Football League Semi Final. Valley Rovers minor footballers played Glenville in the premier 2 football league semi final in Glenville on Friday night last October 30th. In wet and windy conditions Valley’s played some very good football and ran out winners on a score of 3 . 9 to Glenville 7 points. This now sets us up for a league final against the winners of Fr O Neill’s and Inniscarra who play the other semi final on Saturday Nov 7th. On the night Chris O Leary won alot of ball in midfield which gave a good supply in to the forwards who took their scores well and held an 11 point lead at half time. In the second half conditions got worse and both teams found scores hard to get with both teams getting 3 point each. Panel for the game Thomas Sweetnam, Scott Deane, Andrew O Callaghan, Bill Casey, Fergal Lyons, William Hurley, Michael Crowley, Chris O Leary, Sean O Regan, Garry Deane, Colm Butler, Dan Sweetnam, Adam Settini, Aaron Lyons, Robert Sean Sweetnam, Cian O Donovan, Ben Murphy, Cathal Dart O Flynn, Eoin Burke and Charlie Lyons. Scorers on the night were Garry Deane 1. 4 , Aaron Lyons a goal, Fergal Lyons a goal, Adam Settini 3 points and Robert Sean Sweetnam 2 points. Next up for our minors is the Hurling league final V St Colman’s date, time and venue to be decided.

Under 10 Hurling & Football U10 hurling and football activities are over for 2015 although as always the lads are encouraged to practice and refine their skills at home over the winter. We finished off recently with a hurling match v Sarsfields in Brinny and a football match away to Glanmire under lights. Both games were very good outings for our lads. Our skill levels were good and the lads also showed good appetite to win the ball back during both games. We would like to thank the players for their excellent attitude and attendance over the year. We also appreciate the support of parents throughout the year. The lads move onto

Under 13 Football league final Our under 13 s played their football league final in Eire Og yesterday. Eire Og appeared to be the better team in the first half and we were down three goals at half time. Unfortunately we lost one of our key players through injury after 15 mins which was proving very tough for us. With outstanding determination and great team spirit and strength we brought it back to a one-point deficit with four minutes to play, but lost by 2 points with a score of 5-7 to 4-8. We had a long year, but remained undefeated in the twelve league games until the final. We have a great team of players. We can't single anyone out because of the way which we play as a team and even though we were losing by so much, we fought hard to make such an exciting game of it. Hard luck to all our players in such a testing game of football. Brian McCarthy, Miah O'Sullivan, Dara Devine, Eric Duarte, Diarmuid Ryan, Cian O'Keeffe, David Kelly, Adam Walsh Murphy, Neil Collins, Jason Cronin, Eoin O'Sullivan, Dylan Hoey, Eoghan Crowley, Conor Taheny, Ciaran O'Shea. Eoghan Lynch, Jack O'Flynn, Kevin O'Sullivan, Niall Og O'Leary, Gerard Connolly, Daithi O'Sullivan, Niall Burke, Joe O'Halloran.

U11 Dee O'Leary Plate Winners We played hosts Na Piarsaigh’s, Kilshannig, Austin Stacks and Glanmire. After a slow start our lads played some great football, finishing the group stages strongly with a win over Austin Stacks and a hard fought draw with Glanmire. In the plate final we met Kilshannig who had defeated us earlier in the day. After a very even first half our lads continued to defended strongly throughout the second half and their great resolve and team spirit was rewards with a match winning goal as the final whistle approached. Well done to all our players, including our two U10 representatives and a big thanks to all the parents and mentors who helped out on the day and throughout the year. A fantastic way to wrap up our season.

Valleys ladies minor footballers Valleys ladies minor footballers qualified for the county final last Friday evening after a semi-final victory over Fermoy on a score line of 3. 12 to 0.3. The game was played in Ballincollig under lights with conditions being wet and windy. Valleys won the toss and played with the very strong wind which allowed them to pressurise the Fermoy kick out. After 10 minutes they were up by 2.5 to no score courtesy to two cracking goals from star full forward Ciara Murphy the second of which would put Shane Long to shame. The five point were scored by the three Kiely sisters and Aileen Cremin. Fermoy then dropped more players back behind the ball and valleys went 10 minutes without a score. Going into the last 5 minutes the lead looked insufficient considering the wind however after Daire Kiely was moved to the corner she scored a peach of a goal which was followed by three more point from Ciara Murphy, Eimear Kiely and Lisa Lynch to give valleys a 3.8 to 0.0 half time lead. In the second half Valleys dropped players back behind the ball and with some outstand display by the dynamic half back line on Amy Murry, Rachel O Sullivan and Grainne Dart-O Flynn and a mid field dominance by Lisa Lynch the valleys continued to win vital possession in their own third. Valleys moved the ball through the hands against the wind and managed to outscore the opposition by 4 points to 3 in the second half. Special mention should be given to the full back line and Keeper who managed not to concede a goal in the second half under considerable pressure.Valleys are now due to play Beara in the county final next Saturday at 2 pm, venue to be decided however due to the under 16 Camoige county final being fixed for the same day there may be change to this fixture. U16 Camogie County semi-final A beautiful Saturday morning in Ballinlough saw our u16s play Barryroe in the County semi-final. We had played this team during the 2015 league campaign and, following a competitive fixture, won by a mere point. The girls started well competing for every ball and showing great determination. They worked the ball up the field for a beautifully taken point. This settled the team and from then on we dominated play. There was excellent interplay from backs to the forward line, with a lot of selfless running and work done by the whole team to find good scoring positions. We won comfortably in the end with a scoreline of 3 12 to 1 point. It became apparent that some of Barryroe's key players were not available but the quality of camogie played by our team gives us confidence heading into the final next week. Congratulations to all involved: Sharon McCarthy, Niamh Hurley, Adi O’Sullivan, Carol Cremin, Aoife O’Brien, Sarah McCarthy, Ellen Fennelly, Gráinne Dart-O’Flynn, Sarah Lynch, Eimear Kiely, Jennifer O’Donovan, Danielle Murphy, Kate O’Halloran, Sinéad Dart-O’Flynn, Daire Kiely, Julie Perrott, Clíona Reardon, Emma O’Donovan, Kim Muckian, Áine Lynch, Róisin O’Donovan, Rachel Lordan, Ellen Fehily, Leanne O’ Callaghan.

U12 Camogie Blitz U12s Camogie were invited to a blitz at the Barrs Camogie club on Saturday. This was a fantastic blitz as it gave our team the opportunity to play two strong teams, one of which was never played before, being the Barrs team themselves. This was a fun competition for all, and for the team well its as good as training sessions go. They played Ballygarvan in their first match, while the Barrs play Eire Og. Our team was hoping to play Eire Og in the second game, as they had a score to settle, being beaten by only two points in the County Final. But the opportunity did not come as they were pulled to play the Barrs. Great experience was achieved the second game, to experience their different strengths in the various sections of the pitch. From the side line we got exactly what we got during the year, commitment to each ball, tackle, and the various skills, such as great hand passing, moving the ball, and picking out their players. We are so proud of them. Players include: Aisling O Donovon, Molly Lynch, Kate Lynch, Clare Flynn, Aine Ryan, , Niamh Crowley. Laoise Collins, Fiona Horgan. Siobhan Lordan, , Aoife Barry, Hannah Morrissey, Rebecca Lordan, Tara Gilli, Rhian Dawkins.

Absent : Orla O Sullivan. Aisling Fennelly, Jodi O Mahony. Grace Geary Photo above of players from Valley Rovers and the Barrs Camogie the Under 12s blitz.
