LAST MEETING: March 29, 2012 in Madison, NJ. Drew scored seven runs in the bottom of the first and went on to cruise past visiting NJCU, 10-4. NJCU outhit Drew, 12-9. Six of the runs were unearned. For Drew, Steve Kowalski had three RBIs. LAST TIME OUT: NJCU led 5-3 after five and a half innings in game one before TCNJ scored 12 runs over the sixth, seventh and eight innings and claimed the opening game of a NJAC doubleheader, 15-5, on March 30. In game two, NJCU had the bases loaded in the top of the ninth but could not get the game-tying hit as they fell to the hosts, 3-1. In game one, Mike Casiano was 1-for-4 with two RBIs and one run while Wendell Rodriguez suffered the loss (2-2). In the nightcap, Michael Martucci was 3-for-4 and Rivera added a 2-for-4 effort. Kevin DeMauro pitched well in defeat, allowing just two earned runs (three total) and seven singles with four strikeouts and two walks. ZACK ATTACK: Zack Markle (1-0) is the projected starter today. In four appearances (two starts), he had a 3.09 ERA in 11.2 innings and a .238 opposing average. RIV UPDATE: Andrew Rivera, the 35th member of the 100-hit club, enters action today with 102 career hits. WAGGING ON THE BASEPATHS: Sophomore right fielder Matt Wagner enters action today with an 11game on-base streak. Michael Patterson had a string of 15 straight games end on Friday. Patterson leads the NJAC with 16 steals in 18 chances. PETEY POWER: Despite a shaky appearance on Saturday vs. TCNJ, Pedro Garcia still leads the NJAC by a considerable margin with an .078 opposing batting average.

ABOUT THE OPPOSITION FOR STARTERS: The Rangers have lost eight of their last nine games and snapped a seven-game losing streak with a game one win against USMMA on Saturday. DEFENDING CHAMPS: Last year, Drew went 22-21 but got hot at the end of the season, going 3-0 in the Landmark Conference Tournament as the #4 seed, including a 10-9 win over #1 seeded Moravian in the title game, winning the Landmark championship on a walk-off homerun in the ninth inning before losing twice in the NCAA Tournament in its first NCAA appearance. LAST TIME OUT: Drew split with Merchant Marine on Saturday, winning game one, 14-2 before losing the nightcap, 6-3. In the opener, the Rangers scored in all but one inning, including an 11-run spurt between the fourth and fifth. In game two, USMMA jumped out to a 5-0 lead and the Rangers scored three in the third, but were unable to complete the rally as they fell 6-3. ***THE NCAA, ECAC, NEW JERSEY ATHLETIC CONFERENCE AND NEW JERSEY CITY UNIVERSITY PROMOTE GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP BY STUDENTATHLETES, COACHES, STAFF AND SPECTATORS.
