THE SERIES: Montclair leads, 42-10-3 and have won the last three meetings— all by one-goal margins. LAST MEETING: October 29, 2008 in Montclair, NJ. The Red Hawks won, 2-1. MSU was also ranked #3 nationally during that contest. RANKINGS: MSU is currently ranked #3 nationally by D3Soccer.com—and received three #1 votes this week—while owning a #4 ranking by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. SENIOR DAY: Today is the final game of the 2009 season for the young Gothic Knights who graduate only four seniors. NJCU will honor two-year seniors Awal Ahmed and Jilmar Perez, along with four-year standouts Jean Mombrun and Mickael Pereira before the game. NJAC STREAK FOR MSU: The Red Hawks are unbeaten in their last 19 NJAC games. Their last loss came against NJCU in Jersey City on October 13, 2007. That 3-0 win vaulted NJCU to the NJAC regular season championship. However, MSU’s 18-game NJAC winning streak was snapped on Monday in a 1-1 tie against William Paterson. SENTOWSKI’S MARK: MSU eighthyear head coach Brian Sentowski has 127 wins entering today (127-26-14). He’s one shy of tying Rob Chesney for the all-time wins lead; the former coach was 128-64-18 from 1991-2001. NJAC TOURNEY: MSU, the threetime defending NJAC champions, won the NJAC regular season title this year for the third time in four years—a streak only interrupted by NJCU’s 2007 first-place finish. MSU will be the #1 seed in this year’s NJAC Tournament and will have a bye into next week’s semifinal round.
