THE SERIES: MSU leads, 43-11-3. RANKINGS: Montclair is currently ranked No. 6 in the NSCAA/NCAA Division III South Atlantic Region. LAST MEETING: October 16, 2010 in Montclair, NJ. MSU outshot NJCU, 21-4 and had a 14-2 advantage in corner kicks, winning 5-0. Five different players scored for MSU. NJCU LAST TIME OUT: On Wednesday, NJCU outshot outshot Rutgers-Newark 21-17, including 14-6 in the second half, but dropped a 1-0 decision in Newark. ONE IS TOO MANY: NJCU has lost six consecutive games and five of NJCU’s last six losses have been by one goal, including three straight games. The Gothic Knights have lost five times this year when outshooting an opponent. WALTER AVANS MILESTONE: On Monday, senior Walter Avans newtted his eighth goal of the season and 21st point and he moved into fourth place in school history with 81 career points, passing former All-American Edison Bilbao on the all-time charts (80 points, 2005-08). MSU AGAIN CONTENDERS: Even with a new head coach this year, MSU is in the championship hunt again. The Red Hawks had their streak of four straight NJAC championships end last year (including wins over NJCU in the 2006 and 2007 NJAC Finals). MSU has appeared in the NCAA Tournament 11 times since 1989, including five straight years since 2006. IT’S ROGICal: Senior Anthony Rogic enters the game with the second best goals against average in the league (0.83) and four shutouts. MSU has allowed a league-low 11 goals this year.
