North Royalton Athletic Boosters November 2, 2015 Meeting Minutes

Finance Committee - Attendance: Bo Kuntz, Ben Morgan, Carey Marousek, Jeff Evanko  Discussion was held regarding the vote on the gymnastics team request for new uniforms and strategies for succession plans of Trustee positions. General Meeting – Attendance on file. The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m. by President Ben Morgan. 1. Old Business: a. Vote on gymnastics uniforms: Ben Morgan reviewed the information presented at the October meeting and reported that the gymnastics team provided a bid from another vendor, which was higher than the original bid. Option 1 ($236.75/uniform, total $2,841) was approved. 2. Athletic Director’s Report – Ben Morgan reported on Bo Kuntz’ behalf. a. Varsity Football finished 2-4 in the Suburban League and 3-7 overall. b. Jason Rutkowski was named Boys Soccer Coach of the Year, with the team finishing as champions of the Suburban League at 6-1 and overall 11-6-1. c. Girls Soccer finished league play at 5-0-2, overall 10-5-4 and lost in the OHSAA District final to Strongsville. d. Volleyball Coach Kristin Hubbell was named Coach of the Year and senior Katie Baird was named Player of the Year. The team finished as Suburban League champions at 13-1, overall 21-4. They lost in the OHSAA District final to Brunswick. The team was ranked #6 in the state in Division I. e. Girls Cross Country finished 2nd in the Suburban League at 6-1. They placed 4th in the OHSAA District and 5th in the Regionals. Claudia Mendec is an OHSAA State qualifier. They are ranked 20th in the state in Division I. f. Boys Cross Country finished in 8th place in the Suburban League with a record of 1-6. g. Girls Tennis finished 4th in the league with a record of 3-4 and overall record of 10-9. h. Girls Golf finished 4th in the league with a 4-3 record and overall record of 4-7. Luke Dorman and Blake Rudy were named All-Conference. i. Boys Golf finished in 2nd place in the Suburban League with a record of 4-2 and an overall record of 6-4. They finished in 3rd place in the OHSAA Sectionals. 3. Treasurer’s Report – Ben Morgan reported on behalf of Greg Robinson. We are currently operating in the black for $31,315.43 through October since June 2015. The full treasurer’s report is on file. Please contact Greg or Ben with any questions. 4. New Business: a. Successors: Ben Morgan reviewed the NRAB positions which will be open in the spring. The positions are Car Raffle (2), Gold Card (2), Night at the Races (2), Purple and Gold, Vice-President and Treasurer. He stressed the importance of a smooth transition in the Trustee positions, and encouraged involvement from parents who have middle school aged students. Ben is available to discuss each position in more detail.

b. Open Forum: Randy Nemetz discussed questions from some football parents regarding the option to separately purchase a helmet for their son. NRAB typically does not handle equipment purchases; therefore the issue will be referred to Bo Kuntz in the Athletic Department. 5. Trustee Reports a. Car Raffle –Maria Rowlett reported that 736 tickets were sold, raising $14,730. The winners were drawn at the last home football game. Andy Dorman won the car (ticket sold by Golf), Josephine Trusso won the TV (ticket sold by Soccer), George Smee won Chik-Fil-A (ticket sold by Soccer) and Karen Seifert won the Troll Beads (ticket sold by Band.) b. Concessions – Jeff Mueller reported that 45 events were staffed this year, and revenue is expected to be on par with last year. The checking account currently stands at $30,889.08, and a final accounting will be made at the conclusion of any playoff games and final inventory. Plans for next year include the potential purchase of a new popcorn machine and adding coverage for the Holy Name Girls Soccer games. A question was asked about how much money the Band Boosters receives for working the concession stand at the 5 varsity football games and their Band Contest. The response was 25% of the proceeds from those events. c. Gold Cards – Kelly Tarnowski reported that sales are expected to be over $14,000 this year. Cards are still available for sale at the Activities Office or contact Kelly. d. Letter Jackets – Jennifer Morgan reported that she has been receiving several orders per week. She noted that jackets ordered after the Fall sports awards are not guaranteed for Christmas delivery. e. Membership – Team Reps for winter sports can contact Ben to speak at their parent meetings to promote NRAB. f. Newsletter/Publicity – Please submit team award information from the Fall Sports Awards nights to Carey Marousek at [email protected] for inclusion in the newsletter. g. Night at the Races –NATR will be held on Saturday, April 9th, 2016. h. Programs – Ben Morgan reported that picture day for winter sports will be November 11th. Personal, business and senior ads are due November 20th. Fall programs will be on sale at the HS and MS awards nights. i. Purple & Gold Booth – Debbie Bonacci reported online orders will be available through our website all year. Outstanding Bear Paw Pins, hats, shirts and other rewards for NRAB membership will be available at Gearin’ Up now that the Stadium booth is being closed down. Please bring a copy of your email notification from Paul that states what merchandise you are owed. Debbie thanked all of the individuals who have helped her over the years with Purple & Gold. Ben Morgan thanked Debbie for the great job she has done with the booth over the past years. j. Team Sports Liaison – A team representative is needed for varsity baseball. k. Website Administrator – Jeff Evanko reported that traffic to the web site continues to increase with over 18,000 hits in September. i. Please provide information for games to be uploaded to the web to [email protected]. Stories about alumni athletes are also encouraged. ii. Team reps please continue to text scores to Mike Kuhar. 6. The next meeting will be held on Monday, December 7. 7. The meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m.
