Northwest Avalanche Center Request for Proposal – Membership Artwork

June 30th 2017

Mission Statement The Northwest Avalanche Center (NWAC) is a collaborative effort between the US Forest Service Northwest Avalanche Center and the nonprofit Northwest Avalanche Center. The mission of NWAC is to save lives and reduce the impact of avalanches on recreation, industry and transportation in the Cascade and Olympic Mountains of Washington and northern Oregon through mountain weather and avalanche forecasting, data collection, and education. Specifically, NWAC is working to equip and empower our community to recreate in the wintertime mountains. Project Background NWAC is a community supported avalanche center with a robust membership program. Each year we create a unique membership t-shirt given to those who become members at the “high hazard” level. The t-shirt art is essential not only as a thank you gift to donors but also to represent the membership program for the year. Art is featured in on our social media channels and in-person outreach. Our goal is to find an artist who is an outdoors enthusiast and whose art is inspired by their time in the mountains. Description The art for the t-shirt must be non-denominational, meaning that it will appeal to all five of our user groups including; alpinists, skiers, snowboarders, snowmobilers, and snowshoers. The t-shirt can be any color though must appeal to a range of people and design colors are limited to three. Compensation The project budget is capped at $1000, however, competitive budgets will also be taken into consideration. Proposal Submission Requirements Please submit your qualifications, work samples, and budget. Only submissions that include all three elements will be considered. If desired, you may also submit sketches and/or design ideas. Submission deadline is Friday, July 22nd .
