The game “Serena Says” is similar to the game “Simon Says.” If you say “Serena Says” first, then your child should follow your directions. If you do not begin the sentence with “Serena Says,” then your child should not follow the directions.
Serena says, rub sunscreen on your face (or cheeks, nose, neck, ears, arms, hands, legs). Serena says, put on your sun safe hat. Serena says, put on your sunglasses. Serena says, put on your long-sleeved shirt.
Example 1: “Serena Says, rub sunscreen on your face.” Your child should pretend to rub sunscreen on his or her face. Example 2: “Rub sunscreen on your face.” Your child should not pretend to rub sunscreen on his or her face because you did not begin the sentence with “Serena Says.” This game can be led by you or your child. Use the prompts provided as a guide to start the game and adapt as necessary. Have fun and stay sun safe!
