FOR PARENTS: “I SPY” A SUN SAFETY SUPERPOWER DEAR PARENTS: We encourage you to play the “I Spy a Sun Safety Superpower” game at home with your child. Instructions are provided below: 1. Display sun safety items, including: hats, sunglasses, umbrellas, sunscreen bottles, long-sleeved shirts, long pants, socks and tennis shoes, or closed-toe shoes. 2. Describe a sun safety item and ask your child to identify it. Examples: Example 1: “I spy a sun safety superpower that protects your head, face and ears.” Child should look for/point to a hat. Example 2: “I spy a sun safety superpower that protects your eyes.” Child should look for/point to sunglasses. 3. You can adapt this game depending on the sun safety items that you have available. 4. When your child has identified a sun safety item, discuss how this item can help your child be sun safe (e.g., hats protect our head, neck, face, and ears).
