Prince Albert Raiders Game Notes RAIDER REVIEW: The Raiders improved their record to 5-6 and have now won 2 in row following their win over Kootenay on Tuesday. Kootenay opened the scoring putting two goals past Nick McBride in the first period but the Raiders were able to stay in it with a goal from Matteo Gennaro (his second of the season). Josh Morrissey also scored, tying things up with less than 8 minutes left in the second period. The third period was full of chances for both teams, a disallowed goal from Kootenay on a high-stick, a shot that hit the crossbar for the Raiders but Jayden Hart put the Raiders ahead at the 13:43 mark of the final frame giving the Raiders their fifth win of season. McBride saved 28 of 30 shots. VERSUS PORTLAND: The Raiders and Winterhawks meet for the only time this season in Prince Albert. Next season the Raiders will visit Portland on their US road trip. Last season, Portland beat the Raiders 6-3 in their annual meeting. MORRISSEY NAMED TO SUPER SERIES ROSTER: Josh Morrissey was selected to represent the WHL at the 2014 Subway Super Series in November. This is the second year in a row that Morrissey has been selected. GREAT GOALTENDING: Nick McBride is ranked 15th among goalies in the WHL with a .902 save percentage and a 3.05 GAA through 9 games. CREATING CHEMISTRY: The line of Gardiner, Leverton, and Tkatch has played together for the majority of the season has had a huge impact on the scoreboard. They have produced 14 of the Raiders 30 goals so far this season and the three of them are atop the Raiders stats sheet in points. PENALTY KILLING: The Raiders penalty kill continues to be a strong point for the team. In 31 opportunities, opponents have only scored 5 times, giving the Raiders a penalty kill percentage of 83.9. NOTABLES: Early in the season, several Raiders are making a splash on the scoreboard. Reid Gardiner and Craig Leverton lead the team with 10 points each while Jordan Tkatch and Sawyer Lange are close behind with 9 points each. In addition, the Raiders also boast players from the U.S. including 19-year-old forward Gage Quinney, from Las Vegas, Nevada, and 19-year-old defenseman Hunter Warner, from Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
