Sacred Heart Reception Newsletter Issue 5– Friday 6th October
Reception Class Learning Update The Early Years team were particularly impressed with the children this week as they took part in our welcome Mass lead by Father Dixon. The children sat beautifully and listened very well. You made us very proud!
We have been continuing to work on writing our names, labels and captions whilst holding a pencil correctly – a lot of children are getting better every single day!
It is lovely to see that the children really are taking on board the phonics sounds that they’re learning. A lot of children have been writing their letters in the sand, on the whiteboards and even in the rice!
In numeracy we have been doing lots of counting and recognising numbers. We have been reminding the children to count one object at a time, saying the number as they do so to ensure they count accurately and practising that the last number we say is the amount we have.
The Stick Man has proved very popular, and as you will see from some of our pictures this week the children have really enjoyed all of the activities this week. We will continue to work with Stick Man next week too.
We are running low on junk modelling so please continue to collect it and send it in.
